Whatever you do it's going to look extremely fishy if you all of a sudden go "whoops Blizz yeah this character got xferred off a few years ago, my bad, JUST noticed it, can I get it back?" and will probably hurt you in the long run. Going based off of just your story, if he did indeed scam you and charge back then I guarantee you he'll throw you under the bus to Blizzard. I've sold accounts before where the person charged back and I ended up calling blizz support telling them I sold the account and giving them all the original info / sale date / etc just so he would get the account banned (which going off friends list worked). With that being said, he could do the exact same thing and the more of a spotlight that's shined on it the more risky it'll end up being/
The transfer character feature exists for a reason; the only way to transfer a character is to have the same name on the accounts anyways. Yes, you competing at a higher level could put it into higher scrutiny, but at the end of the day it's not really worth their time to dig into it. You could say something as simple as you xferred it off to a new account and then you didn't want to deal with recovering it, or that your little brother guessed your password and has been playing on it, or any other multitude of things.
The only way I see you getting caught is by shooting yourself in the foot and making it a bigger deal than it actually is.
So you scammed him with a refund from paypal? This guy doesn't have my ID or anything, he just has an email with a separate bnet account in my name, and possibly the security question. He ended up refunding his money on paypal after awhile which is a long story in itself because I was an idiot so I don't feel any remorse in possibly ripping him off if it was safe for me to do.
