Oh you know what, when something is wrong with your character,
for example a screw'd up skill, if you contact a GM sometimes they ask
if they can log on your character quickly. Maybe it was a normal guy's
character and it came up as <GM> when the GM went on it to check
something. Maybe.

Its probably that weird bug when you or others can see normal people as GM's.
I didn't look up the armory profile but has the GM rep with any faction oder weapons?

This happened to me one time. I was asked to log out of my account (can't remember the reason) and when I logged back on, I had GM stuck above my name.
It stayed there till the server restart and people constantly pestered me about it lol.

well if you want to get back a quest you toke the wrong stuff in you make a ticket and a they will make your account a junior gm, cant do any commands or anything theres just the <GM> then they can give you back the quest item or what it was .
my friend got it. but not for long. and its only sometimes it works, not all gms forget to make your account normal account again

Maybe GM's count as both Alliance AND Horde?

About a month ago a Horde warrior on my server had a GM leave his stuff on. He was completely invisible and could attack anything without being attacked back. He came to IF and was chatting in say and yell while ganking people.
