how can blizz tell if you swap models/textures?

I play a feral druid and I've seen mods that change the model for cat form to a tigon, a humanoid with a tiger head. The reason there's a mod to do this isn't just cosmetic though. Cat form has a long standing range bug which almost forces you to be inside a mob you're attacking. Blizz has so far not done anything about this bug and it is very annoying especially in arenas when chasing someone and all you see is out of range error messages spamming your screen.

I want to use this tigon mod to fix what blizz refuses to, but naturally i don't want to risk my account so i'm
curious how does blizz know if you're using a model swap? It's a client side only thing, does warden check for it? Can blizz detect a model swap at all?

This bug exists since the very start of WoW as far as I know, and it still hasn't been fixed. I doubt it's gonna be fixed anytime soon anyway.

As for OP, modelchanges are client-side, and the Warden cannot detect them. You can only be banned if you're using modelchanging for advantage over other players, like Campfire-Dark Portal, and people see you in mid air.

Cat Form (Night Elf) melee attack range was too short compared to Tauren Cat Form and other attack ranges. It has been increased.

Resilience Rating: The reduction to the percent chance to get a critical strike now also reduces the damage dealt by damage over time effects by the same percentage.
