[Urgent!!] Holy Paladin pros' help needed!

Okay so here's my story, recently I've became a Holy Paladin and stopped focusing on Retribution items and started to loot only healing ones. So I got my full epic gear in about 2 weeks and yet I'm a completely newbie at healing! (my first time ever)
I've joined a good guild from my server named <Darkened> and I'm on a 2 week trial. I kinda failed about 3 times on Ulduar 25m raids because of:

1.Number one at overhealing (almost all the time)
2.Low Healing Done overall and such..I'm almost always the last one from the healing list

The classleader told me to learn how to pre-heal but i need more info about it..

Maybe you also have some suggestions regarded to it, like maybe I should improve a gem or something.


And MAINLY I need help in improving myself, like how to heal better, what combo of addons should i use and such.. atm im using the default UI and some addons (like DBM / Pally Power).

Use healbot...download it at curse.com .... otherwise your gear looks good. Btw Overhealing is a big part of a holy pally...read this guide Holy Paladin Guide - Part 1 General - Ensidia

/cast Holy Light


Watch the castbar almost reach 2 seconds and if the tank is full health, hit it again.
If not, make a call keeping the -0.5 Holy Light buff and the tank's hp.

As in;
If he's only down a few k, you might want to stop it anyhow - but if your -0.5s holy light buff is almost ending; it'd probably be best to let it go - depending on how many other healers there are in your group.


I don't roll one myself, though - I'm a jack of all trades from private servers; but try it out.

With the new changes, make sure you keep sacred shield up on your MT and also Beacon an OT or someone else in the raid who takes quite a bit of dmg (varies each fight).

While your MT has sacred shield your Flash of Light will leave a running hot on your MT giving you a little bit of an edge on cast time heals. The macro listed above should be used for all of your heals. I recommend using a cast bar mod like quartz so you get the lag bar. If the tank is still @ full hp then hit your macro before the cast bar reaches the lag bar other wise your heal will still go off.

Learning to pre-heal will require you to learn encounters so that you know where damage is coming from and where/who it will be going too.

Its more or less a bit of practice. Give yourself time to learn when inc damage will be landing on a player.

From there adapt your own playing style to your pre-healing.
