WoW 2

So i came to think today about people have been talking about when and if there will be a WoW 2.

Then it came to my mind that techinally there has allready been a WoW 2 since that, when BC came out the patch was called 2.0 and that would mean that it was WoW 2.
There by i will say that the next we see is WoW 4

"WoW 2" is referring to the new cutting edge MMO Blizzard announced at the Blizzcon ´08 IIRC.
You have:
Vanilla -> BC -> WOTLK -> Cata.
And then:
Patch 1.x -> 2.x -> 3.x -> 4.x.
Same game, different expansions/patches for the same game = NOT WoW2/3/4 etc.

Cataclysm is world of warcraft version 4. There will never we a "wow 2" in the sense of an entirely new warcraft mmo.

What im saying is that from a techinally point that 2.0 is a new game aka number 2 and that would mean WoW 2

Hell, many of the new versions of the zones are referred to as V2 or V3, in the MPQs for Cataclysm. If anything, I think Blizz is internally referring to cataclysm as WoW2.

everquest 1 also got old and then they released everquest 2. its the same game but improved graphics. both 1 and 2 players play on same servers since the content is the same.

can't see what would stop blizzard from making a wow 2 if it's only a new client with cutting edge graphics. doubt it's the hydra project though if it doesnt relate to wow. although hydra is a creature with multiple heads, which then could refer to something that already is but there will be more.

People often calls Cataclysm ''WoW 2'' because of the radical changes introduced to the classic zones and gameplay mechanics.

its not WoW2. its just an expansion. Expansion packs doesnt make it WoW2,3 or 4.. So take The Sims for example.. The Sims 3 then theres like 5 expansion packs for it. so does that make it the sims 4,5,6,7 and 8?? NO. Its still the sims 3 same with this. its still WoW! Not 2 or 3. ONLY WoW

I kinda doubt there will ever be a wow 2, but with activision at the helm now you never really know what they're going to do.
