Out of date addon, any way to make it work?

I have an addon that is useful and it went out of date with 2.1.. I would just like to ask if there's any way to make it work without entirely recreating it because the creator discontinued it.

- I just dont see how WoW detects that addons are out of date o.O.

Well what addon is it? I had a map coords addon for pre 2.0.x and I changed part of it through notepad which made it work It's possible you can. Depends on how complex the addon is I suppose.

It's called linkgen..it links items without you actually linking it (you type the id\name and proper command and it will link said item in your current chat channel)

Hm. Dunno. Check out the addon at say Curse Gaming and see if anyone posted how to make it compatible.

On the addon screen by the character select menu just tick the "load out of date addons" box on the top right

I'm assuming he means it's incompatible, just like when WoW 2.0 came around.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix it, I'm not much of an addon fan

u need to go to a mod site and download an update to ur mod so i twill work with the new patch
