How to Dine Out for Free!

Many stores today rely on 'secret shoppers' to evaluate customer service. For the unfamiliar, an 'undercover' employee or normal customer is sent in to make a purchase and evaluate the store. The 'customer' usually goes to a manager and reports on the store's condition. Now, if you're thinking, "How can I be one of these people?" it's simple: look for openings on-line or in papers. But seriously, that's too much work and you actually have to do a certain number of evaluations a month/week etc. The better way is to pretend you're a secret shopper.

Here are a few suggestions to help you move as smoothly as possible:

1: Try to go with national/regional chains. The kind where corporate probably wants every single restaurant to be the same.

2: Dress the part. You don't have to dress up, but for the love of god, don't look like you walked in off the street. Use your brain and dress according to the atmosphere of the place.

3: Look as official as possible. Do some research before hand; learn the restaurants policies. A good thing to do is print up fake eval forms, and fill them out during your meal.

4: Print up a fake receipt. Just something basic that has the chain's logo on it and something about waiving the bill because it's a service evaluation. Also make sure to put a fake address on it for 'redemption'.

5: Don't order the biggest thing on the ****ing menu. Keep it moderate, if they see you're trying to get 5lbs of king crab, and then not pay for it, they will call you out.

6: Don't be a douche. Be polite to all waitstaff/other employees. Also, tip your server if they do a good job.

WARNING: This is not a foolproof plan; things may go wrong. I suggest having enough money on hand to pay the bill, otherwise, GTFO and run fast!

I'm not sure how every place works, but when I worked in fast food a while back we never knew we got shopped until they sent us the form. They never filled out the forms at the store (too obvious to the employees that you're being shopped) and they would pay for their meal (the secret shopper company would then reimburse them).

Well i'm sure it will occasionally work, just it's pretty flawed.
