    My GM Arguement

A while ago now, I was talking to a GM on a retail server. There was a real git on earlier, really annoying and this GM was talking to me about it. After I explained the GM asked if there was any other questions he would like to ask me and at this point I was thinking about all this stuff, private servers, skin changes etc.

I said to him i wasnt planning to actually do it, but why is skin changing and that sort of stuff illegal.
His answer was that he didn't know, he supposed it was because Blizzard didn't want people messing with their systems etc.
But then I mentioned AddOns, and how they mess with the system and are basically MADE to mess with the system for your personal use, as well as skinning and modeling for yourself.

Luckily I had a laid back GM and he didn't ban me or nothing like that, just warned me it wasn't a good idea to talk about that sort of thing.

Anyone had any similar experiances or add to my arguement.

Model editing is not allowed because it can provide a player with unfair advantages.

    Examples include:

-Changing the flag model to Ragnaros.
-Turning a campfire into a bridge or stairs.
    -Turning mining veins into Magtheridon.

As well as many, many other things.

While model editing is usually harmless, there is so much potential for abuse with it that Blizzard has banned it outright.

Ok, then now I understand about Model editing being illegal. But why skinning?

Because Blizzard has no viable way to regulate the ways you edit your character. First, there's the point that they don't like people editing their game, and second, there's the fact that it's really hard to put limits on how you edit your game files.

Because of the potential for abuse, they have simply flat out banned any edits of game files.

This is indeed true. At this time, applying a skin to your character cannot be detected.

It is forbidden but cannot be enforced. Not at the moment, at least.

The main reason is because they can't track you with edits and thus you can own pvp or pve 24/7 =p
