Server Restart Item Dupe/Exploit

Hey guys, this is my first contribution to the community, so dont ZOMG REPOST FROM 3 YEARS AGO LULZ LEECHER!!!11!! or LAME NUB -REP me

I'm sure if you're on these forums you know about the riduculous lag and the BG's crashing yesterday, and how all the servers except like 3 went down. Well, i was in Halaa at the time, with a crazy zerg raid and got a shitload of marks w/o even knowing what you could buy with them. Amidst the ****tarded lag, i made my way to the quartermaster to check out his stuff. Mostly shit, except for one belt that would replace my last green the the epic resilience gem, which i didn't have enough for. So i was gonna buy the gem, when server announces SERVER RESTART 15:00 MINUTES. I thought to myself...I wonder..... So i resolved to buy the belt right before the server went down, i figure if it doesnt work i lose nothing, and if it does, then well...BADASSERY

So long story short, if it didn't work i wouldn't be here posting.

I BOUGHT THE BELT WHEN THE SERVER ANNOUNCED 15 SECONDS TO RESTART AND LO AND BEHOLD, WHEN I LOGGED IN A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER I STILL HAD MY 41 MARKS AND THE BELT I HAD BOUGHT TOO!

I'm sorry that I don't have any screen shots for proof but I will do it tonight at 5 am server restart cause its patch day, with the shatt vendor that sells rare pets. Will post screenies for proof, but in the meantime you guys can try it as well.

I don't really know why the server didn't just give me one or the other, all i know is i got the belt and still got my marks. It might just be for "mark" turnins, but I will confirm tonight whether it works with gold bought items.

But if this works, this has the potential, with a good vendor, to make a ****LOAD of golds.

Comments, thoughts, experiences? Surely someone has though of this before...

Same thing happened to me, but it was with shutdown. And the badges hand-in in shattrath. I posted it somewhere.

we did this back in beta never works.
This trick seems to pop up now and then because it does sometimes work.
Simply because when they script announce a restart what the server does is /kick all active sync connections when the countdown ends.
Then it shuts down the login server.
But there is a certain limit to it's buffer of it's quadcore processor onto how many connections it can kick as to say 20.000 per mili second.
Wich means if there is indeed router lag and there are allot of ppl online it and you are one of the last ppl that get kicked it works.
But buyin' it should be idealy 1 second before the kick starts.
However connection lag makes planning that impossible. unless you have a cable plugged into the server and are 1 meter away from it with your pc.

Yes, I did this, but I got another disconnect, logged back in and it was all normal again

Had the same thing happen with badges when buying the neck piece. Neck piece was in invitory and so were all my badges the next day.

my friend bought trinket for 41 badges and after he logged in he had badges + trinket!! lucky bastard!

Something similar happened with me.
I was just about to buy the merciless leggings when the server crashed.
When I came back, I had the leggings but no arena points lost so I bought the gloves too

i think that servers save our infos around 30-15s before sd/reset then you have this time to bug anything you want becouse when server 'comes back' to live he loads info from 'saves' and your 2nd info after this time :P
