Item Restoring Scrapped Items. Potential Expulsom Farm
Hi All,
I don’t post much here, but I found a small trick that you can do regarding scrapping items, and I thought I’d share it.
Basically, I noticed that you can use Blizzard’s Item Restoration feature on gear that you’ve scrapped, as long as you still have the crafting mats you got from scrapping it, similar to needing to refund gold when restoring vendored items.
But I noticed that when you rescrap the items again, it scraps for entirely different crafting reagents. I had tested this on a trash green that originally scrapped for 4 cloth and 2 thread, and then rescrapped for 3 cloth. Albeit a loss, but it’s random.
I didn’t test this extensively, due to the item restoration limit (up to 50 items per restore, 1 restore every 15 days) and me using most of my restores on gear I vendored like an idiot, but I thought I would post this here for others to test. Perhaps this could be a good way to farm Expulsom, or turn a small profit from rescrapping items with low item yield?
I originally tested this a few days ago, so I don’t know if it’s been fixed. Seems like the kind of thing that would go under the radar though.
Feel free to move this thread to the Elite section if deemed appropriate. I wasn’t sure of this exploit’s value.

+REP for this, very good.
Been scrapping a whole lot for Expulsom, and restoring 50 items was great. Gained an additional 11 Expulsom that I never would have had.

You always needed to have the items you got from originally scrapping the gear. This is mostly just good for farming Expulsom, and getting an extra 10-15 every 2 weeks.
Thankfully, the restore provides you a list of the items you need, so a quick run to an AH and you should be good.

So did you restore the items that gave the expulsom or just the green items that did not. I have never used the restoration service before.

Tested with 50 restored items, seems to re-scrap for the same items it cost to do the restore, no expulsom
Might have been bad luck or it might be fixed
