[US] Chinese / Russian / Korean / Japanese / Nonsense Guild Names
I think I posted about this as a comment in a post awhile back, but thought I'd give it its own thread so people knew about it.
You may or may not have seen non-English guild names on US realms over the last few years. It's easy to do (but costs money!). If you're a sucker for doing unique things to your characters, this is the post for you
It might work on EU too but I do not have an EU account to check or test on.
Here's how:
Step 1) Register a guild, or have an existing guild where you are the guild master.
Step 2) Log onto Battle.net Account Management, go to your WoW licence and select Guild Master Services
Step 3) Select your character who is the GM of the guild.
Step 4) Select Guild Name Change
Step 5) Type in your guild name and pay for the name change.
You now have a non-English guild name after it has processed. I've had one instance where it failed, but every other time it's worked without issue. It might have been the guild name character(s) I picked that caused it to fail, but I'm not sure. That was back in WoD.
Again, I'd like to stress that I can't guarantee that this will work for you. I've done it myself, friends have done it, other people I've never met have done it, but it just doesn't seem to be public knowledge.
Chances are this will be fixed eventually. Unlike character names, it just seems to check whether it's a valid "character" in a guild name for the entirety of WoW, whereas character names check for valid characters per Region. Whether guild names are grandfathered or not is up for debate. Nobody knows.
Be warned: A GM can change it back if reported, and you'd likely not get a refund on your money. But if you've got $22 AUD or your local currency equivalent to blow on something funny, go for it.
For comparison, what happens if you try to use an invalid name:

I think these guild names will not last long if someone report your guild

Yea, sadly. It will stick out like a sore thumb and some jealous person is gonna instantly report it.

I've had mine on my bank alt for about 2 years now, but I've also had it on actually played toons changed in under a month. So yeah, it exactly comes down to how butthurt, jealous or Blizzard white-knight people around you are.

Did it long ago, didn't even think it was "exploit" lol. A couple of games in bgs and got ticket'ed 2 days after. No refund. Had a long debate with blizzard, they said that even if some things are doable but not allowed, doesn't mean they are ok to do. But with their guild naming logic and rules half of top realm guilds are to be renamed but simply because they are top realm guilds and a lot of people would be angry they do not enforce it but one-guy-guild will be renamed.
