    Escape enemy player spellcasts

You can escape from enemy caster spells in the event you are attacked by someone (not something, they aggro you once they start casting) you recognize as having far superior gear (E.G. full merciless gladiator's raiment) using this simple exploit.

This might also be useful for escaping outdoor boss spellcasting, but I haven't made this so it can do that.

    All you need is:
    1. EPIC (has to be epic) Flying Mount
    2. "Show Enemy Castbar" from interface section (so you can see what is being cast)
    Optional: riding crop/crusader's aura/etc.

I know what you are thinking. I'm just going to say "run away when someone tries to gank you". Read on.

Basically, when you engage a mob, people will sometimes try to kill you while you kill that mob (pvp server, or if you're flagged on pve). Usually, after you are done killing 2 or 3 mobs, you need cooldown time to get full health and mana, and that is when people will start to attack. Lets say you have... oh... 1500 health once you're done with a mob. Along comes a warlock, who decides you're in his way, so he begins to cast soulfire (a 6 second cast spell) while his voidwalker takes out a mob he's farming. You see he's casting soulfire, so what do you do? Your mana is gone, your rage is gone, you used a pot, your friends are no where to be found. A few days ago, I was in this exact same position. I narrowly escaped doom by mounting my epic flying mount and flying away. It was not that I was out of range, for the warlock cast soulfire on me, but the the epic flying mount is faster than spell casts. Basically, I was flying faster than the spell, so it never caught up with me, and hence, I took no damage, and lived. The actual spell went off without a hitch, but I took no damage because I actually got away from the spell itself.

With a little practice, you too can prevent corpse runs.

    Re: Escape enemy player spellcasts

I think you people are missing the point of his post:

He's not just saying "mount and fly away," he's pointing out that the epic mount can out-run a spellcast. As in, the warlock fires off a soul fire, but the mount is so fast that the spell will never come in contact with you.

You can't tell me that's common sense, +rep from me.

Thank you for clarifying what I was saying Ozrien. I'll edit the post to make that more apparent.

    Re: Escape enemy player spellcasts

I had this happening to me, but in another way. I was flying close to Doomlord Kazzak once my guild were fighting him, I was close and a shadowbolt was fired at me. I turned and start to fly away, it did say that i got the damage but the graphic effect of the shadowbolt did not hit me, I kited the bolt to shattrath. So I think you do get hit even tough it doesn't look like it, but in your case, it didn't do damage (one case scenario or something?).

Edit: I also dueled a druid once, he shot a Wrath after me, I got hit but again the graphic did not hit me. I flew around for about 5 min before it got to boring :P

    Re: Escape enemy player spellcasts

Doesn't work with all spells. Some spells do the damage and display the animation after. Ex: Shadowbolt

I tested this with a warlock using soulfire and epic flying mount, and started flying after he just started casting it. It didn't work. He couldn't even see me by the time I took the damage. I was using a 70 pally, with crusader aura. As soon as he finished casting I took the dmg.

Hmmm just a guess here but maybe your Durability Loss depends if you are in combat with a PvP Target, For instance if you die from a killing blow, from player while in Combat with that Pvp Target you lose no Durability. But if you are out of combat With a PvP target ( like he is on his screen shot probably because there was no combat for 7 mins) and you die you receive Durability loss.

Hmmm just a shot in the dark there
