Don Carlos' Famous Hat on use summons an incorporeal coyote spirit as a companion this companion lasts until you dismiss the pet or take off the hat

but using a Darkmoon "Cougar" you can take off the hat and keep the pet

GUIDE:
> Equip Don Carlos' Famous Hat
> Summon Darkmoon "Cougar"
> Mount Darkmoon "Cougar"
>Summon coyote spirit
>Unequipped Don Carlos' Famous hat
>dismount Darkmoon "Cougar"

Now you should have your coyote spirit summoned while you are not wearing Don Carlos' Famous Hat

Now to get the the Giant Wolf part, You will need Magical Pet Biscuits

Feed your coyote spirit one of these biscuits and Boom Giant Dog
