Flying mount in ab water? possible exploitation?

No im not sure how long youve been able to do it but in the water around BS in AB you can use and mount up on a flying mount however when you leave the water it autodismounts. Is there a possible way someone can use some other exploit to get around that auto dismount and well... fly in the bg?

Isn't it like, flying disabled completely in there? Same way as in some instances/raids where you can mount a flying mount but only run.

you cant mount on the flying mount in any other spot than underwater which makes me wonder if thats intentional which just seems odd to me if it is.

Well there are technically two types of flying mounts. The first type are your hybrid mounts, meaning you can mount them in instances, but they don't fly. Examples are Golden Gryphon - Item - World of Warcraft, Green Wind Rider - Item - World of Warcraft, Blazing Hippogryph - Item - World of Warcraft. Then there are mounts that you can mount outside in flying areas, but not in instances, such as Reins of the Bronze Drake - Item - World of Warcraft and Reins of the Black Proto-Drake - Item - World of Warcraft. Are you saying that you can mount one of the ones that don't require you to be in a flying area, or ones that do? Because if you can mount on the ones that require you to be in a flying area, you could lag yourself out and explore. Although, there are invisible walls all around the battle ground that you cannot pass, no matter how high you fly up.

    I find this very interesting!

Currently in "Unknown" zone areas you cannot mount on a flying mount. I have found that the mount does cast if you are underwater... but then you dismount if you go above the water... same as you are saying here. So it seems (to me) that Blizzard's fix to mounting on flying mounts in Unknown areas, and mounting on flying mounts in BGs, are somehow related...

We (in the exploration forum) have found that you can get around the dismount by pressing ALT+F4 (disconnect) right as the cast finishes. When you log back in, you'll be on the flying mount. Moving in any way will then dismount you... but our explorer StrangleTusk has discovered that lag tools will delay this dismounting.

    +3 rep for the information.

Ok, went into AB and tried to mount on my Rusted Proto Drake, Dark Phoenix, Bronze Drake, etc and I was not able to mount up in the water. Was there something different that you did. I mounted a Wind Rider and a Hippogryph and it was still 100% ground speed.

Not sure if it's always been this way, but I know it def has been for awhile. Still possibly a way to abuse, but as Del pointed out not in that specific way.

I'm still a bit confused. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the mount that Dellion is riding a mount that can be mounted inside instances? Meaning its a hybrid mount. I guess what I'm confused on here is that this has been working as intended since the day they made it so you could mount these hybrid mounts inside instances, and when they made it so you could mount in water way back when (I dunno, back in BC?) From the OP, it sounds like he is saying he is mounting on one of the mounts that you cannot mount on inside instances. A mount that is strictly a flying mount, such as http://www.wowhead.com/item=63125/re...e-dark-phoenix.

Yeah you can mount any mount in water in an instance, including a non-hybrid. But it will be like a ground mount and unable to fly if you lag yourself like Del showed. And when you leave the water it auto dismounts as well.

Just gonna post a video on what I'm dealing with. Second mount was hybrid. Rest were not hybrid. On Daggerspine US as well, so I dunno if its because I'm on a US server or not. But this is what I get. Not sure why I'm worrying about something so useless haha.

You must be on the water surface. But this is still useless.

For some reason the Blazing Drake is an Aquatic mount... at least according to armory - could this be the reason you can mount Blazing Drake, but not other flying ?
