[Archmage Vargoth's Staff] quest log trick.

This might be a repost, but couldn't find anything when I searched.
    Anyway..
Story time: Once upon a time, I use the [Archmage Vargoth's Staff] for my [/use Archmage Vargoth's Staff /vanish] macro. Ohhhh sweet jesus how I loved that macro, but god damn i hated to keep that quest in my quest log. Then i leveled my mage and got to the quest chain and found away around it
I noticed that [Archmage Vargoth's Staff] is obtainable if you delete it.

You'll need: Carbonite or another quest helper addon that has the right-click abandon function. Example Attachment 5057
    What to do:
    1. Go to Ravandwyr Ravandwyr - NPC - World of Warcraft
    2. Delete your [Archmage Vargoth's Staff].
    3. Then talk with him and keep the window open. You should see the option "I've lost Archmage Vargoth's Staff. Can you replace it?"
    4. Now right-click on your quest ( in my case "The Sigil of Krasus") and press abandon and make sure you don't close the window.
    5. Now when you have abandoned the quest, press at the "I've lost Archmage Vargoth's Staff. Can you replace it?" option, and you will obtain the Archmage Vargoth's Staff but not
    the quest.

I think this would work with any other "obtain when lost"quest items

Btw sorry about my bad English Hope it's readable

Hmm quess its just me then couse I got it n my bag and I have either abandom my quest or complete them and still got the staff.

So should work to just abandom quest or complete them

So did just check my druid, and I go the achi "Into the nether" so I know I have complete the quest chain atleast and I got the staff in my bank.

Can fix a printscreen if anyone wants.

    But otherwise good find =)

Thats pretty weird xD Usually the staff would disappear as soon as you, abandon or complete the quest You might just have been one of the really lucky ones

I still have the staff from back in TBC. Unless they changed something recently with it I think it's one of the few quest items that's not tied to the quest in specific to be destroyed when quest is dropped. I know you definitely keep it after finishing the quests.

Could i get a screenshot or something cause I really don't wan't to risk it. :S Pretty sure I lost it on my rogue when I completed it. But maybe you're right about not losing it after completing the quest.

ok with this, what i did was:

    1) do the first quest: The Archmage's Staff - Quest - World of Warcraft
    2) do the second: Rebuilding the Staff - Quest - World of Warcraft
    3) pick up the third: Curse of the Violet Tower - Quest - World of Warcraft

now from here on, you can accept the quest, and receive the item. delete the quest, and the item will go. (remember you can still pick it up and get the item again - no risk involved) then close the gossip window for the npc.

now, when you talk to the npc again, you will have the following appear:

    Attachment 5088

Notice how you are 1) able to take the quest (which will give you the item) but more importantly, 2) click the option to retrieve the item on its own. My point in all of this is that I didn't keep the window open as described above (there's no risk remember - you can just pick up the quest again). I also have this on my priest, that has done the quest chain some years ago, and still has the item. So either way you can get it.

Nice find either way OP - I went out to do this quest chain upon finding this thread purely for this item :-D Did it on an old character at 70 but never on my current main character.

My Archmage Vargoth's Staff has been in my bag for years. Love this item.

I may have not finished the last quest... or maybe back then you got to keep it after. Can't remember how I kept it.

*edit: I also carry around Dartol's Rod of Transformation... I love this kind of stuff.

Did some research and you guys were right. apparently you keep it after completing the quest But by doing this trick (as Necrolite mentioned above) you will be able to have a clean quest log and the option to get the item again if you deleted it.
