    The behavior of the chair does not change with race... so It is most definitely because you're trying it next to walls. If you don't get the right angle, or the right wall, the chair just appears in front of the wall (which would most likely be under you, if you're facing the wall).

    I didn't want to create another thread for this, but you can use the Mushroom Chair to escape from outdoor boss rooms(and possibly reset the fights), and most bosses in ZA/ZG & FL & Dragon Soul(?) are outdoors.

    Also you can bypass shallow visible walls with it, provided that you were able to place the chair to the other side of the wall and can mouseover the chair through right angle or using some remote vision like eagle eye or eye of kilrogg. Also can be used to jump to places that are too high for normal jump.
