The faction change process is not immediate, and a character will not be available for play while a faction change is pending

this sir, is not true. you CAN login, i played 2 times 2 hours bg while waiting for the change

God. you can do it yourself... Create faction change...log onto a different character..mail your faction changing character...wait for faction xfer to fail....cancel...rename...GG

Does it work with race change?

tried and it does not work anymore i guess. Everything works ( mail, changed FAILED etc ...,) but you are not asked to rename your character anymore.

I think they changed something in the procedure. (i did this trick not intentionally the first time I Faction changed) Before the change the procedure was announced as FAILED and the transfer was aborted. Now the change is "FAILED" but you have to cancel the procedure, it is not automatic.

Unfortunately, Blizzard seems to have fixed this bug/exploit. Couldn't get it to work for me.
