it IS indeed client side and everyone else can see it too. I can confirm this since I've been using it for long time with my MC helm :P

I know what they mean. And although I have not tested this, I read in another thread that the engineering helm modification
cannot be turned off, as far as visuals go. Perhaps this goes on to show that when you have it equipped and you are in a
certain form (Such as the Kalu'ak), it wants to load the helm but cannot find the information on how the helm is supposed to
appear on the character. Therefore, it uses the infamous purple and white model error box.

It's server side, cus how you would know that someone has that model on? yes. by the server. The server sends a message that player X has that model, but your client (and everyone else) just doesnt display the model correctly.

Everyone can see it since everyone got the missing model, i'd call it client side.

It's client side even if the server has to send you the information, the server doesent show the model, you client does, it is therefor a client side issue, for all the server knows, then that is exactly how the model is supposed to look.

If this is visible by others, then it's a fault made by Blizz as they haven't uploaded the textures properly.
