(Mac) Exit BG's and return to same group 1 min later.

First off this only fully works about 50% - 60% of the time.
While in a BG hold (Alt, apple, esc). This will cause a glich as your comp trys to open the force quit screen. (must have WoW set to full screen). You will be automaticly disconnected from WoW. If you log back on right away you will still be in the BG, same group. If this doesn't fully work then you will be kick from the BG but you won't have deserter. This may not work for all macs, but it does for mine.

p.s. I hope this helps some people, and I hope it made sence.

You can leave and BG then log out and your deserter debuff will be gone. It's alot easier this way.

Any form of disconnection will give you a window of time where you can log back into you char. and still be in the BG's
