Mage: Focus Magic Exploit

Blizzard attempted to fix the focus magic exploit, where you can be frostfire with focus magic on another person, and it was thought that they did for a while. However, there is still a small loophole in the system. This requires the other mage to use focus magic in their main spec.

The frostfire mage specs into his focus magic spec and casts it on the other mage who uses focus magic in their main spec. At this point, the frostfire mage specs back into frostfire, and the other mage casts focus magic on him. Due to some odd buff checks performed, both mages will still retain focus magic and the 6% crit with procs.

This is working as of 5/10/09

Fireball spec with FM talented would still beat the FFB mage using this exploit so I am kind of skeptical about this. However if it does work it is still an exploit.

Frostfire has better usage in certain fights, as it is FAR less mana intensive. On top of that, its AoE damage is much better. Frostfire also benefits more from crit than any other mage spec. As of right now, Frostfire with the Focus Magic bug should be the top DPS spec.

As stated above: This doesn't work. Once the non FFB mage crits, the buff goes away

Spec requires a set/certain amount of uldaur gear. Before that point, the 57/3/11 spec is better.

You don't need ulduar gear to spec FFbolt.

Any high crit gear is good for FFB regardless of whether it is from Naxx or Ulduar so you are correct Blazinmage.
Also I suggest that people go and re-read EJ, Fireball is the best DPS spec and this is clearly indicated in the proper post.

(filler) I would call hXXp://www.wowhead.com/?talent#of0Vcu0cZ0Ec0RhIhVubhct top dps build for mages atm, and it does have FM as well. Just glyph yourself with LB+FB+MA and there's no mage reaching you at meters with equivalent gear on any other build.
