Heroics can be a bitch now. All your nice end-game epics replaced with green toys you picked up along on your way to level 80. I ventured into Gundrak heroic in Zul'Drak today. The first boss, Slad'ran, the snake thingie, was a real pain in the ass. He spawned too many snakes, and when the acid nova hit is, it was just too much for our healer.
So we pretended he was Lurker, as in Lurker in Serpentshrine Caverns. It worked like a charm. Also, we all earned a nice special achievement for it - the "Snakes. Why'd It Have To Be Snakes (Defeat Slad'ran in Gundrak on Heroic Difficulty without getting snake wrapped.)".
1. Enter instance. Clear trash around Slad'ran.
2. When you entered the instance, you saw a pool in the stairway (Not gonna post pics, you can't mistake this for something else.). This is where your DPS+healer will be standing.
3. Tank pulls Slad'ran, and drags him towards the pool and stand on the edge of the pool.
4. DPS spank, tank tank and healer heals.
5. When Slad'ran starts casting his acid nova spell, press X. Dive. Pretend it's spout from Lurker. If you get hit, try standing closer to the boss, to the edge of the pool, to avoid being hit. I was standing in the middle of the pool today, and did get hit, but second time, I moved closer, and got no debuff.
6. When snake adds come, ignore them. They can't swim and won't hurt you in the water.
7. Kill boss.
8. Kill adds, or wait for them to despawn (30-45 seconds or more.)
9. Profit.
So we basically just did this almost like Lurker, and voila, it was done without problems. No add problems, no problems with acid nova.
But also, we earned the special achievement for not getting snake wrapped (ability of the adds, but they can't touch you in the pool).
Further, when you're doing this on heroic, killing Gal'darah (4th) will open a last boss in heroic. He doesn't drop Frozen Orbs, but he drops nice loot. I can't remember the name of him, but you'll find him in a now-open tunnel in the wall, opposite of where the mammoth boss was facing. This boss is named Eck or something, looks like the Oracles in Sholazar Basin. Not hard to do. He does AoE frontal damage, and also jumps around like he is on crack. After the big jumps, aggro resets, so beware.
