get out of combat with patrolling birds in skettis

ive read all the stupid posts from the past on getting out of combat with these birds when they attack you. everything from "fly straight up" to "strafe around the huts!"...screw that. they fixed the vertical climb combat drop bug a long time ago, and strafing doesnt do anything more than running in a straight line would do.

want to get out of combat with them while on a flying mount? stay mounted, but land on top of one of the purple roof-awnings on top of the tree huts. the bird will immediately move far away from you and combat will stop after about 2 seconds.

it is instant, it is definite... makes doing your bombing achievement a lot easier too

yea i didnt know what happened when i was doing achievment but it just like dis-spawned when i went near a landing but couldnt replicate it happened couple times

i do it every time. land on the awnings. the purple/red things on top of the huts. the birds disappear immediately. if they dont do it immediately, get off the awning, go to the other side and land again.

in using this more since i am doing these quests daily, i can clarify this a bit. the STEEP awnings are the best to do it on. it does not seem to work on any of the ones that are flat enough to land on easily. it needs to be the steep ones where you touch down for a second, then kind of slide a little and touch down again.

not trying to drudge this thread up again, just wanted to try and clarify a bit for anyone that might be having issues.
