    Possible Model Editting (1.11) ?!

All the credits go to elitepvpers memeber locutusofworm:

Since 1.11 WoW will no longer look in the data folder for model/sound swapping.

    The workaround?

    1. Open mywarcraftstudio
    2. In menu go to: pack -> create mpq archive. Call it whatever you want, doesn't matter
(EDIT: Apparently it must be called the same as an existing mpq, but with a number 0-9 behind it eg. speech2.mpq) edit: patch2 will not work apparently
    3. Add your files to swap into the mpq, make sure you enter the right folder location
    4. Open WoW

Tested with my swapped fire elemental voidwalker, and it works fine biggrin.gif

    A step by step guide on what I did;

Done some testing, apparently the name DOES matter - you have to name it the same as another existing mpq, with a number behind it

    eg. speech2.mpq
I've never tried this as I have no model editing experience, but thought it would cool to post here for others to try and confirm.

It works! Awesome job on this find!!

Wait... what do you do if the filename is too long, and you cant write anymore in the add file box?

Wish I knew, those are the only good instructions in the thread. Has anyone else had a chance to play around with this yet and see what we can do? Is the old campfire to dark portal trick re-available?

I would believe it would be available, just need to figure out the part about the file names.

well...from what I did, you could only edit stuff that had shorter locations like...
world/azeroth/elwynn/passivedoodads/campfire/campfire.m2 is to many digits to put in the new MPQ. I tried making my lvl 40 cat mount into a dryad and didn't work...I'm missing something and I'm trying to find the old post Matt put up, because now that I understand these steps...I remember it went a little more detail in his post, about the names being to long. Is that thread around? If it does work i'll try to get the campfire/portal thing working and tell you guys.

PS: is there any editing/deleting from the original MPQ's involved in this method?(if you can)

And a tip would be make sure the slashes are going "\" that way instead of the regular "/" way...the key should be above the "Enter" key. This tip is for when your typing in the m2 your adding...its the slashes between the folder names.

I understand how to do it up until we have to grab the mpq file we want to add to the archive...if someone could clarify the steps a little more that'd be great.

Does Blizzard nerf exploits to put the challenge up to people like me/us to find a new way to do it?
