How do we create a custom token to be dropped by a raid/dungeon boss?
Putting it simple, and without explaining the whole idea, I wanted to create a new type of material/token to be dropped by some bosses.
I was thinking about some new game item added to its loot table.
But I want to be able to trade it for specific items at some custom vendors (bookmarked somewhere in this forum a way to add custom vendors).
I suppose this can be done just by fiddling with the DB.
Can anyone give me a larger picture of what I need to change?
So far I was thinking:
- add object to item_template table at mangos DB, probably copied from some existing one with its own new ID
- set the items I want to trade the stuff for as requirements at the item_required_target table
- replace those existing items at the item_loot_template by the tokens
- add the loot removed from the boss to some vendor requiring the tokens for it - think this should be done at the item_loot_template also
Similar to this I would like to create recipes that would have to use some materials, be bound to a profession specialization, and reward specific items.
But for starters I didn't even found the recipes in the DB to think about them.
Am I missing something or am I completely off track?

Well on my server this is how i did it. First i went to item_template I used Emblem of Heroism 40752 I changed its name to the token i wanted (Warsong Head Token). Then i went to creature_loot_template found the creature i wanted to drop it inserted a new line to which i added the new currency token so now it drops in-game. Then go to your npc_vendors_template and add the item you'd like to be available and under extented cost you add your token 40752 I did it by editing as i didnt want to add a patch to server players needed to properly view items in bags and INV as you would need to if you created a new stand alone item. Hope this helps enjoy.
