Giving my friend Db Access

Ok so i have done this

Username: (i have this set as my my friends name)

Hostname: i used his ip from What's My IP Address? Networking Tools & More

Password: Ascent

and its telling him he can not connect can someone help me figure this out please

I had a similar problem once. What DB tool are you using? Heidi, Navicat, or WhyDB?

Username/password obviously, set host to % or his IP (easier to test with % then change to IP when you know it's working).

Make sure he is connecting to the port you are using.

Your port for the database must be open, otherwise he won't be able to connect at all. The default port is 3306, needs to be open TCP and UDP. This can be done through your router, and guides to do so can be found throughout the internet.

If all else fails, check your firewall is not blocking it.
