How to set all field values in a column to X

Well, I have a little WoW server that I play on to times, but I really want to get rid of the race restrictions and class restrictions on armor.
I've messed about around in NaviCat and haven't been able to find out how to do it, and since I'm no SQL expert, I've no idea how to make a query which can do the job.
I run on ArcEmu for the 3.5.5 version.

The table of items is called "items"
Column is called "allowablerace" and "allowableclass"
The value for everybody being allowed to use the item is "-1".

So I what I want is basically a query/script that just changes the value of all fields in "allowablerace" or the class one, to -1.
Also, are there any SQL guides that you guys can recommend for a SQL newbie like me?

Read any basic SQL guide, it's really easy and can be learnt in less than an hour to manipulate your database through queries in a basic way.

UPDATE `items` SET `allowablerace` = '-1';
UPDATE `items` SET `allowableclass` = '-1';
