If you want something Stable MaNGOS/Trinity is what you're looking for, though I personally find it hard to customize these, so you are lucky with these if you want a blizzlike server. Else you should look for Aspire or even maybe ArcEmu with vlack's patches(k5).

I understand the MaNGOS fanboys but Hearthstone is great.

ArcEMU is the most popular, and easiest Customizeable + it supports Lua (BIG +!!!) It doesn't support 3.1.x yet tho.

Ascent is almost as popular as ArcEMU and is great for stability and does support 3.1.x . Sadly it's not as easy customizeable.

Mangos is great for Retail-like servers as it's very hard to edit anything in it, besides Database stuff. Also very stable most of the time.

Trinity I don't know anything about.

NOTE: ALL of these are my personal oppinions and personal experiences. This is NOT how it may be for YOU!

Trinity is pretty much on the same line with mangos, but it has alot more loose way of accepting patches and they do some hackfixes in their core, so in return of more things "working" You may get a bit more crashier and more bugs containing core, if you follow the latest revision.

Yeah, ArcEmu is probably easiest to create funserver from because it was about the only option before so many people still use it, but AspireDev community is growing and based on same codebase as ArcEmu (Ascent).
