Quick Question - How to stop private server from patching?

Hello, I know this is kind of a funny question that I should probably know. But basically when new patches come out for wow I want to keep my private server on the old version until it's reliable enough to find a new version.

I am not sure exactly how to do this so I can play wow on the current patch but have my private server work under an old patch?

Then when I find a reliable new version I can just update it and continue the process?

Obviously this will save me a lot of time if I can figure out exactly how to do it, just need to play LIVE GAME on latest patch and PRIVATE SERVER on a stable patch the next time the game patches.

I don't want to revert right now, but when the next wow patch is released I don't want to have to wait for a reliable emulator to come out.

Copy all of your WoW folder to a new folder. Update one WoW folder to the newest patch and let the other one be. Result: now you have 2 versions of WoW you can use.

You need to copy it to a partition or another harddrive, though.

Thank you guys for the information, so basically just copy the wow folder to a partition on my hard drive and then when wow updates it won't update my private server.

Yeah, that's about it. However, don't use the launcher with the client you don't want to update, just to be sure. Because I think the launcher might initiate the updating process regardless of your other WoW.

Or just comment the patch rows in realmlist.wtf.

I was going to give him the hard way of disabling the AutoPatcher in the core(XFER_ACCEPT, XFER_RESUME, XFER_CANCEL).. then I forgot the options above lol.
