Need help after being gone since Summer 08; what are the good core/DBs now?

I've been out of the emu business since summer of last year, and I have to say I'm lost. Too many things have changed, and I'm feeling like a total noob again. I've been reading up on everything I should, but it seems all the guides that would be able to help me are outdated.

I tried compiling an ArcEmu server using WhyDB as the world database, but there seems to be compatibility issues, even though I've read guides saying their good.

    My main questions are:

    - What is the best core/DB combo out there, and is there anything special I need to know to make them work apart from compiling and uploading and blah blah. (I'm looking for anything above patch 3.0, preferably 3.1, not being picky though).

    - Also, going along with the best core/DB, which ones look good in the sense that they're updated frequently, and the team seems to be interested.

Anyone that can help me will get some rep cookies as well as my eternal gratitude. I hate feeling dumb. :P

Through personal experience, I believe MaNGOS + UDB would be the best combo. Stability + Updates from both sides

use aspire/hearthstone for your core and rivaldb(must convert using the convertor file in the svn) for the database.

    AspireDev

Rival Database » #1 World of Warcraft Database

    good luck

    aspire/hearthstone is updated frequently.

It's always stability over latest updates mate. MaNGOS are going up to 3.1.1 soon. In fact, it's already out for testing purposes. Just shows there's greater stability. And UDB is the DB you'll want along with MaNGOS. You might wanna go ahead and give the latest 3.1.x version a go.

As long as you don't expect anything else than a Blizzlike, go for Mangos yes. And seriously all people got such a hassle updating ALONG with blizzard! Geez -.- Its not THAT important you know.

You could stay at 3.0.9 ArcEmu and have all the flexability you need and just create the "Missing" content which could be found in 3.1.1.

Aspire only got half the flexability atm and its more unstable than ArcEMU is, 'cause the people behind Aspire are f'ing it up now.

Mangos is the most stable emulator ever but its only made for Blizzlike non-customizeable purposes so what are you gonna use that for other than Blizzlike?

    You need an example?

    here: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/emulat...09-server.html

Now don't say "That's still something blizzard made", because Dythzer still fully edited it himself, meaning it is customizable and has different uses other than just the normal blizzard server.

Okay, if I was to go with ArcEmu for sure, what patch does the head revision support?

Also, what's the best database for ArcEmu? Will RivalDB work well?
