[Guide] Make a zone a sanctuary

This is a How to Guide to change the PvP Flag of a zone.
I read a discussion about it on Ascentemu.com (Link)
and this is a quick guide I made about it.

We all know that problem:
Everytime you have a cool mall, theres the problem that you
dont want your players do PvP in it right?
If you aren't creative with C++ (you could make a script for this)
just change the Zone's PvP Flag. With this method places like Westfall
can be sanctuary zones like Shattrath


Warning: The zone will be sanctuary, but it WONT show ingame.
That means: If you enter the zone it will still say PvP zone.


Ok. First of all we need a DBC Editor. You dont have one?
No problem download it here
DBC Editor (thx to --free_kill-- for finding: Link)

When download is finished copy the program and browse to your dbc folder (should be anything like .../ascent/dbc
Paste the DBC Editor into that folder and run the application.

Open AreaTable.dbc with it. It should look like this (2.3.3 DBC Files)


The important column for us is the field4 column. Thats the PvP Flag Data.

Another warning: Every map like Silithus is stored in little zones.
If you just change the Silithus ID, Silithus will be nonpvp
but special zones like Cenarion Hold (ok its NoNPvP but if it
WOULD be a PvP zone) would still allow pvp. So if you want to
change a whole map you have to change every of it's
zones.

I dont think that you know every zone's ID so I copied a little

After you found the zone you want to change, next things aren't difficult anymore.
In the zone's row you will see a value in the field4 row. Just change that value to 19496. That value doesnt allow any pvp and duels are tabu If you want duels to be allowed use 19456. Free for All is 17536


It should look like this now (other zone ofc)


After changing the value(s) just save the dbc and restart ascent. If it doesnt work
tell me and Ill try to fix the problem.

For those still lost... or can't get the zones to change...
Before even attempting this... make sure you have updated maps inserted into your server folders. I'm sure you all know about the good ol' map extractor

Without it all zones will default to PvE where no PvP can be active unless you were to flag yourself.

And if you're trying to change the Gurubashi Arena... the actual pit you fight in is called Battle Ring (id 2177 I believe).

Only if you issue a patch to your players. You'll need to repack the DBC and probably create a custom launcher to load it.
