Sorry ahead of time if I've missed a thread similar to this one, I searched and only found guides to get into Retail Guilds.
This is the ultimate Guide to applying to become a GM on a Private World of Warcraft Server.
1. Basics
Usually when given an application to become a GM the first question that is given to you is your name and age. It is fairly easy to fill out these fields, but it is recommended that you should tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Also, when applying PLEASE use proper grammar and capitalization, this shows that you're making the extra effort and that you actually are putting care into the application. As well as using correct grammar and spelling it is highly recommended that you actually put some time into the application by coloring the titles a different color such as red. This will make it easier for the person reading the application to actually read it, this will(believe it or not)GREATLY increase your chances of getting accepted.
2. Application Guidelines/Requirements
This is by far one of the most important thing besides speaking good English/having good grammar and spelling. If you need do not actually qualify to become a GM on the server that you select and you fill out an application it is highly unlikely that you'll ever become a GM on that server. Many legitimate servers require that you have actually spent some time on the server, this must be completed. There is no way to bypass this requirement, they can easily check if you have actually been playing. Another thing that most servers would love to see is that you actually spent some time active on the Forums. To make sure that you're getting noticed on the Forums it is recommended that you try to post things that many players could use or could help the players. Example - Guide to Connecting to Ventrilo.
3. Extras/Previous Experience
For previous experience it is pretty self explanatory, the more experience you have the higher the chance you have of getting accepted. It's much more convincing if you have any kind of proof that you were a GM. It could a link to the website, could be a person that saw you GMing. The best is that if you have a previous Admin come and leave a post under your application verifying the fact that you've GM'd on his server. This however, is VERY unlikely because of the fact that you've left his server for another. The easiest way to gain points while attempting to become a GM is if you have run your own server and you know your way around the database.(Don't forget to mention this if this is the case) Now, on to the subject of past retail experience. Myself, I have a Fully Tier 6 geared Paladin. So this isn't exactly a problem for me. This field is fairly easy to complete seeing that 90% of the servers don't check up fully on this. It's recommended that you put a link to the World of Warcraft Armory. One thing that I've found that is also an instant acceptance letter is scripting experience. If you have C++, Java, or LUA experience make sure that you mention this in your application.
