How to create an easy ascent server

This is an easy and fast setup of an ascent server. This supports clients 2.2.3 ONLY.

This guide shows you how to make an ascent server using mysql as a database.

Download the following.
RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting
Filebeam - Free Fast File Hosting

Step 1ownload these two links and extract them using
WinRAR - Reviews and free WinRAR downloads at Download.com

Step 2: To get onto server you MUST start these three programs: Start MySQL then Start logonserver then Start Ascentserver While running they should be open, If one closes start it back up again.

Step 3: Change your realm list too 127.0.0.1 by going:My computer>C:>Program files>WoW>WTF realmlist and it should Open up with a notepad and then save it

Step 4: Now you can logon your own server now!! Password and username is both admin.

I did everything u did exactly as u told but its not working i get errors like, shutting down, Documentroot missing.
Do i still have to change stuff in the CONF files? Thanks.

The CONF files has everything right in there no need too change anything, it works for me no need for adding ports all you need too do is start it, you must be doing something wrong. rqm dunno what though sorry..

I am trying to make my serveur following your guide step by step and when I get to your second download when I try to Beam it, it says that the folder is too big. And also I have a question about the realmlist "set realmlist 127.0.0.1" if many people make a serveur with the same realmlist how does it works?

Mahona,I'm sorry I dont no what you're doing wrong never had your problem, but you might aswell try starting too use a repack, this version is getting a bit old unless you want too upgrade patch 2.3.2/2.3.3 too it, and 127.0.0.1 only works with admin creators of the server no1 else say if i had a hamachi IP it would be 127.0.0.1 for me but the other players bout be sumthing like 3.32.242.43. Yes it does work, and no you dont need database it already comes with a already made character its just a noobpack just too test things for your server.

127.0.0.1 is how a computer refers to itself. It's the equivalent of people saying 'I'. We're all talking about different people, but with the same word.

Also, to the poster of this guide, everything seems to be alright. You might want to correct some of the spelling/grammar issues though, and maybe add screenshots for those who need help. All in all, not bad, and good to see you contributing. +Rep
