    1. Introduction

    Hi everyone. Please before you use my guide, ide really appreciate if you
    didnt copy my guide or record my videos. These are truely written and
    recorded by me and im spending my time helping you guys.
    Ok, before you ask why I made this guide, well... in the old days,
    when I wanted a Private Server, I was looking all over the place...
    If you go to Youtube, on a Private Server vid, ive seen people begging
    for help sometimes. Now that I know lots about Private Servers,
    I think back to those comments on those vids, and I want to help them...
    Some other videos dont work or the creators of the videos dont give all the
    info you need, or miss out on something so that the server doesnt work.
    So basicly im doing this to help people. This is my ADVANCED guide, if you
    want to use the simple guide, go to http://www.mmowned.com/forums/ascent-guides/57535-guide-the-complete-guide-on-setting-up-your-own-ac-web-server-simple-guide.html
    (Whats The Difference?: My advanced guide explains more so you know
    what your doing and why and I give more detail in each step. On the
    simpler guide, it will just say what to do)

    This guide might be a little bit long compared to the simple guide, but
    you have a much higher change of having a working private server =)

    Good Luck Guys! Absolute Zero

    2. Setting Up Your Server

    First of all, your going to need World Of Warcraft. If you dont have it, you can
    download it from World of Warcraft Community Site and look for the free trial thing,
    and download it from there. Now my guide is going to teach you to use an
    AC Web Ultimate Repack. For those who dont know what a repack is, its like
    the whole server all in one folder... And it even comes with the database, so
    you dont have to set it up. Ok, you need to download the repack at
    AC Web, you have to sign up then go on Downloads, and then repacks.
    Click on the repack at the top of the page... and it will send you to a page with
    a description of the repack. At the top, there is a link to download it from.
    You will need to install the repack into your C:\. Sometimes it doesnt come with
    the folder, so you just have to make a folder called AC Web Ultimate Repack and
    put the items in there. In the folder should be the Control Panel, Ascent Folder,
    Server Folder, 2 Rar Files and a ReadMe. You can use the ReadMe if you want.
    Ok, You see the 2 Rar Files, one is GB and one is US. If you live in Europe then
    extract the GB one, if you live in the US, then the US one. You need WinRAR
    to extract them. Go to google, and type it in. You will download the trial version
    which runs out after ages. Extract whichever one to your World Of Warcraft Folder.
    Once extracted, go to your WoW Folder, and open up the Ad File you extracted.
    Its loading the maps into the maps folder you extracted. It will take a while, even if
    your computer is up to date. It will close on its own when its finished, and thats
    when you move the Maps Folder to your Ascent folder in the AC Web Ultimate
    Repack folder. Now you can delete the Rar Files if you want. From here, you are
    able to access your server... but first you need to edit your Realmlist.wtf file using
    Notepad. Change it to Set Realmlist 127.0.0.1
    (Realmlist.wtf is found in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft)
    Now go to your Logonserver.conf in your C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Ascent and look for
    something like this:

    <Client MinBuild = "1"
    MaxBuild = "9999">

    Make sure it looks like that. Then save and exit.
    Now you need to open the Control Panel in C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack and click on
    Start Server. 4 Windows will open. Dont close them, you need them up for your server
    to work. If you go onto the Ascent program, when it says Ping around the bottom,
    you can then log onto your server.
    Now you can log in with the username admin and password admin. To change
    your usernames, passwords, server name, server rates... Look at my Editing
    Your Database And Server tutorial.

    __________________________________________________ _________
    3. Editing Your Database And Server (Note: When you edit anything or create
    anything, you need to restart your server
    for it to work!)

    In this tutorial, you will learn how to create items, vendors, create and change
    usernames and passwords, change server info and rates... so on.
    First, to edit your database, you will need Navicat or HeidiSQL. Navicat is not free...
    you get the trial, or you can download the cracked version. The download link is
    somewhere on www.MMowned.com . Just make an account and search Navicat
    Cracked. Or you can use HeidiSQL, which is free but the layout is not as good.
    I prefer using HeidiSQL. Download at: www.heidiSQL.com
    When you use an AC Repack, it comes with a database... All you have to do is
    connect to it. First run MySQL off the control panel.
    Open up Navicat or HeidiSQL and go to Connection. Go to New.
    Name your database whatever you want. Hostname: 127.0.0.1 User: root
    Password: Ascent (or antrix if your using an older repack) Port: 3306
    Leave anything else, and go to Connect. Hopefully it will let you log on.
    Ok first - Editing Things.
    Open your logon database. There will be a few of databases like Accounts and stuff.
    If your going to edit your accounts, go onto the accounts table. If your using HeidiSQL
    click on Data. It will show the accounts on your database. To edit the accounts or
    password, click on whatever and type in what you want it to be. If you want
    an account to be a GM, put az under gm. If you dont want an account to be a GM,
    put 0 under gm. If an account is using the Burning Crusade, change flags to 8.
    Usually it will already be 8. With HeidiSQL, click the tick button to save what you've
    done. Im not sure with Navicat. If your going to add an account press the + button
    (if your using HeidiSQL). Then under acct put a number which isnt the same as any
    other account because its the accounts id number. Put whatever username and
    password, and whether or not they're a GM. Put 0 in banned, lastlogin, lastip and
    email. If they arnt using Burning Crusade, put 0 under flags. If they are, then put 8.
    Then save.

    To change Server info and Rates -
    Go to C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Ascent. If you want to change your realm name,
    go on Realms.conf (edit with notepad). Go to the bottom and replace
    AC Web Ultimate Repack with your server name. Save it. To change server rates,
    go to Ascent.conf (edit with notepad). Go down until you see some stuff like MOTD
    and Level Cap. Then just type in whatever MOTD or the level cap you want.
    If you go down some more to QuestXP and Drop Money. You can change all that too.
    Whatever numbers you put there is how many times it x's the normal rate.
    For example. Normal XP = 100 and you're XP rate is 5. The XP you will get from that
    kill will be 500. You can change the chance of what colour item drops too which owns!

    Creating Items -
    Go to WoW Vendetta - Wage Your War . Sign up, then go to tools and go on whichever creator you
    want. (Before you continue, read the IMPORTANT notice below first!)
    When you click create at the bottom of the pag, there will be a box with a
    SQL log in. You need to copy that log and paste it on Notepad. With HeidiSQL,
    all you have to do is go onto your ascent database, then go to Import at the top,
    and go to Load SQL File. It will come up with the browse thing, just close that.
    Then where it says SQL Query. Just paste your SQL log in there and press F9.
    For Navicat, you paste it onto notepad. Save it as whatever.SQL then go to navicat,
    right click the ascent database and go to execute batch file. Browse for your SQL
    file you saved and press Execute. Then it will have created your item. If your server
    is running while you made your item, you need to restart the server by starting the
    programs on the control panel again and then your items will be on the server.
    To add the item when your logged in... Type .add itemID

    ~IMPORTANT~
    This is really important, if you want your created item to work. You must read this!
    When creating your item, you need to fill in the Display ID. This displays what
    your item looks like when you wear it and the icon for it when its in your bag.
    To find a Display ID, go onto your ascent database, and open the Items table.
    Find the item you think your would like your item to look like using the search
    function or looking through the table. Once you find the item, on the 9th column
    across is the display id column. Then just copy that id into your id on WoW-V.
    You also need an entry code (item ID) for it, for when you add it. It has to be
    unique, which means it cant be the same as any other items ID. There are alot of
    items but dont make a code that you wont remember!
    Lastly, on WoW-V it will say Item Level. Just leave that out.

    Creating Vendors -
    Go to WoW Vendetta - Wage Your War . Sign up, then go to tools and go on Vendor Creator.
    (Before you continue, read the IMPORTANT notice below first!)
    When you click create at the bottom of the page, there will be a box with a
Then it will have created your vendor.
    If your server is running while you made your vendor, you need to restart the
    server by starting the programs on the control panel again and then your vendors
    will be on the server. To add the vendor when your logged in... Type .npc spawn ID
    (ex. .npc spawn 4 To add an item to the vendor ingame, type .npc vendoradditem ID
    To remove an item from the vendor ingame, .npc vendorremoveitem ID
    REMEBER: When Adding/Removing an items from a NPC, you need to target the
    NPC first.

    ~IMPORTANT~
    This is really important, if you want your created vendor to work. You must read this!
    When creating your vendor, you need to fill in the Display ID. This displays what
    your vendor looks like when you spawn it. To find a Display ID, go onto your ascent
    database, and open the creature_names table. Find the vendor you think your
    would like your vendor to look like using the search function or looking through the
    table. Once you find the item, on the 10th column across is the display id column.
    If your vendor is male, use the male_displayid, if its female... female_displayid.
    Then just copy that id into your id on WoW-V. Now you need to fill in Vendor ID.
    This is the ID you use to spawn your vendor and for when you add items for it to
    sell. It has to be unique, which means it cant be the same as any other Vendors ID.
    There are alot of vendors but dont make a code that you wont remember!
    Leave mount display. You can also add items to the vendor. Leave them all blank
    if you dont want it to sell anything. If you do, put in your vendors ID again (not the
    display ID) and the item ID which can be found on the items table, and then the
    quantity. Leave quantity blank if you want them to sell infinite of that item.

    VENDOR BUG: When you spawn your vendor, and it is a blue and white checkered
    box, it means you havnt added a display ID or its an invalid display ID.
    if you have added a display ID that is valid, go onto
    C:\Program Files\World Of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enGB(or enUS) and delete the
    npccache.
    Dont worry, it will come back when you log in... so dont think all the items will be
    deleted or something.

    4. Making Your Server Public

    This step can be complicated for some people so pay attention...

    First go to DynDNS -- Dynamic DNS, E-Mail Delivery and Other Services . Create an account, and log in. Go to Services and click
    on Dynamic DNS. Click on Get Started. Create a Hostname, it can be whatever
    you want. Tick create wildcard. On the IP Address part, just click the IP Address link.
    Leave everything else and click Create New Host. Make sure you remember
    the Hostname you put in.

    Now go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc and find a file called Host.file
    Edit it with Notepad. At the end, paste this in:

    127.0.0.1 (Dynamic DNS Hostname)
    (Internal IP) (Dynamic DNS Hostname)
    (External IP) (Dynamic DNS Hostname)

    You can find your Internal IP by going onto Start, Run and type CMD. It will open
    a window called Command Prompt. Type in Ipconfig and press enter. Now next to
    IP Address, it will tell you your IP Address. It will start with 192

    You can find your External IP by going to WhatIsMyIP.com . Its clearly written
    in big numbers.

    Your host.file should look something like this:

    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 (dynamicdns.host.name)
    xxx.xxx.x.xxx) (dynamicdns.host.name)
    (xx.xxx.xxx.xxx) (dynamicdns.host.name)

    Ive hidden my IP Address and DynDNS Hostname for a reason. You need to type
    yours in.
    Now save and exit that.

    Go to C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Ascent and open your Realms.conf
    Look for:

    RealmCount ="1"> Change that 1 into a 2

    Look for:

    <Realm1 Name = "YOUR REALM NAME"
    Address = "127.0.0.1:8129"
    Icon = "PVP"
    Colour = "1"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    Change it to:

    <Realm1 Name = "YOUR REALM NAME"
    Address = "YOUR EXTERNAL IP:8129"
    Icon = "PVP"
    Colour = "1"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    <Realm2 Name = "YOUR REALM NAME - Local"
    Address = "YOUR INTERNAL IP:8129"
    Icon = "PVP"
    Colour = "1"
    Population = "1.0"
    TimeZone = "1">

    Save it and exit. (If you say to yourself... "I dont want two realms", Think Again!
    That second realm is a realm only you can see. "So why did I make two realms?"..
    Because doing this stops Realm Loop. A very annoying problem. It stops your
    Realmlist from opening up your realm. The good thing is, only you can see the
    second realm, so dont worry. Note: If you dont follow this step, you wont be able
    to access your server.

    Ok, this is the hardest part... PORT FORWARDING.
    Im not sure how to do this part if you are using a Modem. I know its possible with a
    Router or Wireless. You need to find the Ip Address that allows you to connect to
    your router. For example, a Linksys Router uses 192.168.1.1 to connect.
    If you use a router, go to PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall . Find your router,
    click the link. Then on the new page, go down and look for World Of Warcraft. When
    you do, click on it and on this page... look for some text saying:

    Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your
    router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has
    Google in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your
    router. By default the ip address should be set to xxx.xxx.x.x

    The xxx.xxx.x.x will be your routers IP Address. Go to your web browser and type
    in the IP Address. It will say to log in, just put Username: Admin Password: Admin
    Now you need to enable your DynDNS to connect to your router. Find a page
    where you can type in your DynDNS Username and Password, your DNS Hostname..
    it should get you to pick a service, Linksys gives a choice of either DynDNS,
    www.TZO.com or disable.
    Then save the settings.

    Now look for a link for Application & Gaming or something similar. Hopefully if you
    follow the link, it will take you to a port range forwarding page. If you do get
    to a port forwarding page, (im just going to put in my Linksys info) try and put the
    info into your port forwarding page. Ok leave Application blank. Open these ports:

    3036
    3724
    6881-6999
    8129
    2093
    6112
    8050
    8245
    3306
    80

    For protocol, put both... where it says IP Address, put in yours. Tick Enabled.

    This is what mine looks like:

    Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enabled
    3036 3036 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    3724 3724 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    6881 6999 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    8129 8129 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    2093 2093 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    6112 6112 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    8050 8050 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    8245 8245 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    3306 3306 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)
    80 80 Both xxx.xxx.x.xxx (tick)

    Then save those settings.

    To get a friend to connect, simply get them to open their Realmlist.wtf in the
    World of Warcraft folder and change it to set realmlist your dyndns hostname
    For ex. set realmlist myhostname.kicks-ass.net
    Then save it.
    Remeber you need the programs running from the control panel to make the server
    work.

    Note: Ide advise you to create a notepad document containing your DynDNS
    realmlist and your WoW realmlist just incase you want to switch back and you
    dont know the other realmlist. Tell your friend to do this too just incase.

    Now if you did everything correctly, you should have a working server.
    There is another way to make your server public using Hamachi, but this way
    is better because your friends dont have to download any programs (apart from
    WoW). But if modem users cant get there server public, go to ac-webs.org and
    click search. type in Public Server with Hamachi and look for a thread by Thorz
    That will get your server public, but your friends will have to download Hamachi
    to log onto your server.

    __________________________________________________ _________
    5. Website Stuff

    If you want a fully working website where other people can make an account
    for your server... your server will need to be public. Now you need to download
    the website you like most at: http://www.ac-web.org/forum/showthre...ebsite+install
    DONT DOWNLOAD THE BLIZZLIKE FRONT END WEBSITE!!!
    It looks very good but it will take ages to load because it uses up alot of memory.
    I went with SPORA (Simple Page Of Registration of Accounts)by mirage666,
    Kandyman and Unclemo because its a nice and simple registration page and looks
    cool.
    You will download a RAR File containing the website stuff, extract them using
    WinRAR to your Desktop. When extracted, copy the things in the folder you
    extracted and paste them at C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Server\htdocs
    If it says your overwriting other files, click Yes To All.
    Open either index.php or config.php with notepad depending on which you
    got in your download. Look for something like:

    <?php

    $config['mysql_host'] = '127.0.0.1'; //MySQL Host
    $config['mysql_user'] = 'root'; //MySQL Username
    $config['mysql_pass'] = 'ascent'; //MySQL Password
    $config['mysql_dbname'] = 'ascent'; //Database Name

    ?>

    Make sure it looks like that.

    Go to C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Server\Apache\conf and open httpd.conf with
    notepad. Look for something like:

    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    Listen 8245

    Make sure it looks like that.

    Go to No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP . Make an account (its free). Once signed in, go onto Add Host.
    Pick any hostname you want... it has to be a No-IP Free Domain though.
    Make Host Type: Port 80 Redirect
    Ip Address: Your External Ip
    Port: 8245

    And then go down to Create Port Redirect.

    Now you're done. You need Apache running on the Control Panel for your website
    to work, and you need MySQL running to be able to create an account. The address
    for your website will be http://no-iphostname
    For ex. Not Found: myhostname.servegame.com

    ac-webs already has all of these instructions on it, just seems like you took everything and reworded it, even though it is in fact extremely useful information.

    No rep, but thanks for the post.

    you can use any version as long as minbuild = 1 maxbuild = 9999 in logonserver.conf

    Re: [Guide] The Complete Guide On Setting Up Your Own AC-Web Server! [Advanced Guide]

    Well.. I thought everything was working just fine.. but I get to the part where I've finished extracting my maps and then start the Acsent Control Panel. I clock Launch Server and it isnt doing anything... at all. I've tried clicking it more than once and everything. I just have no clue where to even start looking to find out whats gone wrong. But, so you know, I did follow your guide word for word. Any suggestions? Something I'm missing?
