MySQL Will not allow me to config, i have it ticked, but it just finishes and never pops up with the config window, i went into the folder and opened all fo the config txt files and changed the passwords but navicat will not connect on localhost

leethunter you sure world.sql aint still running? Because the table is already created maybe you are running it again. It is failing because its already there. But guys i have a question thanks for the tut it seems to be good. When i finally login as a gm ie. admin admin. It lets me select development realm and says connected but hangs there like i am using the wrong client version. I am using 2.4.1 and I have deleted my cache. any ideas ?

This happend to be with a 2.3 server. It's because you deleted your cache folder. I know some servers say "Delete your cache folders before entering!" but it some how does mess it up. I had to patch up to 2.4, login to get the orginal cache stuff, downgrade, patch up to 2.3 just to make it work again

when i try to execute ascent-world its says that MSVCR90.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

Udates? There are *.rar files with sql updates, do I need to execute each of them also? There are world updates and logon updates and character updates.

Oh, I had the same problem as above (conection problem as if wrong client) with another repack and it went away when I made a login and pw from the website. I then went to accounts and set GM field to AZ, worked fine after that.

Don't forget to use the map extractor in your client folder and then move the map folder to the server folder, and remember to unpack the dbc.rar.

Still executing the sql batch file now, but this looks promising. +rep

I dunno what I could have done wrong, but I sourced the db, got the maps over, unpacked all the .rar files and when I click on the the exe files to fire it up I get the following error:

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.

I reinstalled to .conf files and edited the config.ini file to relect the correct dir path but I still get the same error (scratching my head).

Any ideas?

*Update* Doh! It pays to follow directions, lol....I had forgotten to install the .net from the tools folder, I thought I already had it installed....LOL

Is it possible that you already have MySQL installed? If so, you don't need to reinstall it. If you have it installed but can't connect, hit start\run and type "net start mysql"
