2.4.1 Accesable Server Setup

Please Note this server includes the Isle of Quel'Danas but no NPC's on the island.

Glitches
I dont have to extract the maps for my server.
I dont use them, I dont even have a folder for the maps!
The server is a little bit bugged, But it works doesn't it, so its good for now.

Information
This repack is Aeirs repack 1.5.0.
This ascent DB is Aeirs too. The mall is on the
island. Use the Portal in shatt to get there.

I am updating the vendors and will re-upload
the Repack When i get the chance.

Instructions

Mysql

1st
Download the Mysql setup file. Open it up. Once open, Click next, Then select Typical and then click next, Then press install.
2nd
Once done, a window should pop up saying a little info, Skip that until you see a window that you are able to check "Configure Mysql Now". Check it, Then click finish.
3rd
A new window should of poped up, Click next, and choose Standard Configuration, Click next and Change the Service name to "root" without the parentheses. Click next and then change the new root password to something you will remember. Then type that in the Confirm Password box. For you will need this later. Then press next, then execute and wait until it is done.
We are done with Mysql

Navicat

1st
Download and open the navicat setup. Once open, Press next, Check I Accept, then click next.

2nd
Press next again because we want the default directory, A window should pop up asking if you want to create the directory, Press yes.

3rd
Press next again, Check if you want a desktop icon and a quick launch icon, then press next, and then install.

Setting up the Server
1st
Download and extract the repack to your desktop. Once its on your desktop, Open it up and then open ascent-logonserver.conf and then find

<LogonDatabase Hostname = "localhost"
Username = "root"
Password = "<PASS>"
Name = "world"
Port = "3306"
Type = "1">

and then change <PASS> to your Mysql Password. Save that then open ascent-world.conf and find

<WorldDatabase Hostname = "localhost" Username = "root" Password = "<PASS>" Name = "world" Port = "3306" Type = "1">
<CharacterDatabase Hostname = "localhost" Username = "root" Password = "<PASS>" Name = "world" Port = "3306" Type = "1">

and then change <PASS> to your Mysql Password. Save it then openascent-realms.conf and find

<Realm1 Name = "Herleybobs Tutorial Server"
Address = "127.0.0.1:8129"
Icon = "Normal"
Colour = "1"
Population = "1.0"
TimeZone = "1">

and change Realm1 Name to what you want your realm to be named. Save that.

Navicat and the Database
1st
Open up navicat and go to File and click New Connection. A window should pop up. Change the password to your mysql password. Now click ok.

2nd
On the left under Connection, double click on localhost. Right click on it, and go to New Database, Set the name to "world", make sure you do this.

3rd
Now right click on "world" and go to Execute Batch File. Now press the button with "..." In it, and go to your server directory. Once there, click open Sql, then click on Ascent.sql, let it finish, then once its done. Close Navicat.

Maps
In your Server directory, find the folder called "Maps". Open that and move Ad_enUS.exe to your world of warcraft directory. Make a new folder called "maps" in your world of warcraft directory too. Now start up Ad_enus.exe and let it run, It will take a long time, so go watch TV or read a book. Once its done, Drag the "maps" folder from your world of warcraft directory to your server folder.

Connecting
Go to your world of warcraft directory and open Realmlist.WTF. Change it to

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

and then save it. Go to your server directory and start up ascent-logonserver.exe. When it says "Hooking signals", Then start up ascent-ascent.exe. Wait until it stops creating text, Then start up WoW and login with the info

Username = Adminaccount
Password = 123qwe

And it should login!

Awesome, tryin to set it up now, but I'm getting the almighty realmlist loop =D seein what I can do to solve this.

Hmm.. Weird! Did you try to continuously connect? Like press cancel, then continue to do it?

Yea, I cancel, then try to login, and tried canceled clicked the realm again rofl, I really don't remember how I used to fix it :P

Edit your Ascent-Realms.conf to

<Realm1 Name = "Server name here"
Address = "127.0.0.1:8129"
Icon = "Normal"
Colour = "1"
Population = "1.0"
TimeZone = "1">

And it will work.

After going through the tedious process of getting MySQL server to work for Windows Vista, is there a way to get this server to be public, or at least open to a few of my friends?

I'm now running into a problem when trying to open the ascent-logonserver.exe

It is giving me an error that says "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

What could this be. Thanks

When I click create character it disconnects me. I cant figure out how to fix it. I got the server up and the account its just when I log in and customize and create my character and click create... it just brings me back to the log in screen and it says disconnected.


Also, when you put the maps folder in the wow directory and then launch the app. Once its done, when you open the maps folder should they all be in there? Cause when it finally completes I open the map folder and theres nothing in there.
