    How to update your server to the newest patch

    If you have no idea how to update your server to the newest client patch...then this guide is for you!

    Now, first, some facts.

    Blizzard patches their program every now and then ( I think we all know)

    and sometimes, your players can download the patch and get a screen when they try to log in say

    "Unable to Validate Game Version......"
    this is because the client hasn't been updated to the latest patch while the player has.

    However, this can be fixed, and quite easily....

    first, go to your repack files.

    2)go to logonserver.conf or for mine ascent-logonserver.conf

    3) then find the part of the file that reads

    Code:
    <Client MinBuild = "6739"
            MaxBuild = "6739">
    and change it to this:

    Code:
    <Client MinBuild = "6739"
            MaxBuild = "9999">
    4) and your done, if all goes well, your client will be updated to the latest patch.

    And now, you can sit back, relax, and let your players play your server.

    Ha if only it was this easy. !!!THIS DOES NOT WORK!!! Burlex has not released a stable 2.4.1 ascent core yet, There is a version of ascent that will let players play on you server with 2.4 BUT it is extremly bugged. Just wait for burlex to release it. i wish it was that simple =]

    So by doing this, what you're doing is making it so that people with 2.4 can play on your 2.3 server?

    it doesnt actually upgrade the server to the new patch. what it does is it makes the newer clients be able to run on the server with an older patch. e.g a 2.4 client playing on a 2.3 server, but all the 2.4 data doesn't exist on the server, its still a 2.3 server, and i'd assume that it would kinda screw things up for the person trying to play a new patch on an older server. updating the server to the newest patch would involve a new/updated database and all that jazz to include the new game data.

    This was a re-post, plus if you bothered to look around the site you would see how many off these useless posts there are. Just restating, When you change the MaxClientBuild it is just changing what patch the server is able be played on. 2.4 server, 2.3 patch EG. It is all in the CORE of the server which a stable 2.4 ver. has not come out yet. The est. time is around 2-5 weeks for an unstable ver. and at least a month for a fully working stable ver.
