private server character bans kept client side? menu

    private server character bans kept client side?

    So here's the deal, my character was banned on a p server because we were supposedly "bugging a boss". Using WPE to trace any packets when i click the button to connect with my character, i get the message "this character is locked, please see billing", yet WPE records NO packets in or out. This tells me that the server had to modify a file somewhere on my end if the game isn't even having to send a packet out and get info from the server to determine if it's banned. Anyone have any ideas?

    its server-sided. it actually does send packets out. are you sure wow was targeted?

    well heres what i got from a quick test.

    00 07 1F 00 57 6F 57 00 02 03 03 77 1E 36 38 78 00 6E 69 57 00 53 55 6E 65 D4 FE FF FF 41 60 8F 64 01 41 <-- sent packet (contains my IP O.o)

    00 00 03 <--- received packet telling me im banned. (changing it will make it not show the message but do you will get stuck on authenticating)

    Youre talking about an IP ban. I'm talking about a character ban where when you select your character to play it says it's locked.

    i did test it with both an IP banned account and a non IP banned one. same thing.
