Why Use..

SQl, MYsql servers and other things isent all the stuff the emu experts make on the MPQ and why can't we use the MPQ for are servers? I do see how you can make custom stuff so why cant we take the data out of the MPQ?

i beleive u need to keep the file structure the same otherwise the game wont work, it'll look for a *.mpq file and wont see it that's why it's easier just to modify the data inside the mpq then unpack it and use the individual files.

Um really if u want to get into it what we are doing is not illegal ony hacking is and moding the game cleint it's self i have looked intensively into this subject. We HAVE NOT MODED THE GAME CLEINT AND WE HAVE GIVEIN BLIZ ALL THE CREDIT SO WE ARE PERFECTLY FINE, now modding the MPQ is illegal. So that mite be a reason why

Ascent, on it's own is not illegal, the developers provide the software, and it is up to the end user about how they go about deploying it.

When Ascent is used alongside with Blizzard files, namely from the World of Warcraft client, it becomes ILLEGAL, on YOUR behalf - not the Ascent developers.
