Whats the Difference?

Whats the difference between a Mangos,Antrix,and an Acent? Im completely new at this stuff. I want to make a server,but I need to know whats best and easyest to go with.

to run a server you need a emulator...mangos and ascent are one of maybe hundreds of emulators...
The most known emulators are: mangos, ascent and wowemu probably.
Mangos is good but not really stable, uses a lot of bandwich and i mine opinion not the best.
Ascent is the best emu right now i think.... its much more stable then mangos (can host hell more players with less lagg and bandwichusage)
Antrix = Ascents old name... some time ago antrix changed name to ascent.
WoWemu = one of the old most used emulators
about databases: mangos and ascent have almost the same DB... the best DB is owned by the ascent team (made by iceman,gorm,aceindy).

You make it seem so complicated.

I'll "noob" it down for you:

MaNGOs - Mediocre, not very stable, but really easy to run and extremely noob-friendly. Great for when you're just starting in the Emulator "business".

Antrix - Came out around the same time that MaNGOs did, very stable, a little harder to use, older version of Ascent. Been given the title, "Old Ascent" many times.

Ascent - The most recent and stable of all emulators, although also the most difficult to bring up. When brought up successfully, is an incredible emulator, and you'll find that most of the custom addons and recent databases/repacks are generally for Ascent. The most popular database, recommended for mediocre and above emulator users.

If you're new, I'd simply recommend going with MaNGOs and slowly working your way up. There are guides for each of these 3 emulator in the Emulator Server Guides section of the forums. Good luck!

well sorry if it seems complicated xD i did my best
personally i am not a pro at setting up servers and i think ascent was no big deal... you only have to think logically
anyhow what emu you gonna use? :P enjoy it

yep ascent is way better
well a question: did you convert your characters and accounts to ascent? or did you just do a whipe?
(we succesfully did a conversion on a testserver ^^ )
