Logonserver.exe works but ascent.exe just disapears! what do i do :(

Ok me and a friend are working on getting a server set up, he had it set up public for about 2 months but couldn't host it anymore, so he filebeamed everything i needed to me, he has been working with me to get it started and i have gotten to the point where i can start logonserver.exe, all the way to where it gets to hooking signal but when i try to start ascent.exe it just closes after half a second!

I'm really frustrated!

anyone have any idea?

When I set up my private server I had the same problem. Did you change the Realm's name or not use the pw given in the database?

EDIT: I noticed whenever I changed something about the server that was originally there the antrix/ascent.exe wouldn't run properly
Try to stick to the server name for ex: My db came with the server as "burning crusade" and pw "root" I changed these the 1st time and had no sucess, I didn't change them the second time and it worked perfectly

EDIT: I would do that but the DB i have is one that has been used before on a private server, so i do not know the actual name of the realm and pw it was first used on, but since my friend filebeamed it i havent messed with the server except for deleting the extra ones he tried to create

Hmmmm...Sorry. We'll sometimes starting over is the best choice. Also it might be easier to go with a server that has a guide+ database. For instance I used Nimassus.

Make a new thread about it or go and look at one of the million simple ways to set up an easy one, but dont post in a legit thread that has almost nothing to do with helping you set one up.

Happens when the IP in the settings of the server is different from the ones that you use to connect to the server.

If the logonserver.config shows an connect IP of 127.0.0.1, then use that one in the antrix.config as well.. every IP should be the same. If there is a difference like, antrix.config got locahost as connecting source and logonserver.config got 192.168.x.x or 127.0.0.1, just pick one and stick with one...

If the people above me ideas don't work. Make sure you are starting Mysql then logonserver then ascent. Otherwise I think ascent won't open up.
