The Hunger Games WoW Project

The Hunger Games project is a server that is built around a single game mode. It utilises a Warcraft 3 styled interface for matchmaking inspired by the old DoTA WoW project. This is the only game mode that can be played on the server.

Upon starting a game, every player starts as the same generic class with equal stats and items at random locations on the map. The objective is to be the last person standing as you only have one life. There is a lot of PvE content within the island that will help you make your character stronger in order to defeat other players.

Players can use and unlock 'perks'. Each player can have up to 4 perks which will benefit them in a game. A image of perk selection can be seen below:



A day and night cycle (24 hours) takes 20 minutes exactly to pass in the game. There are different mechanics and perks that will benefit you at certain times of the day.

This project is a small and casual one. The primary objective is to get the first map done and playable with ranked and unranked play and leaderboards. This project is great because it can be extended easily with updates, such as allowing for different map selection and new mechanics and features.

Not really, unless you can program C++ or have experience with WoW UI work. Progress is relatively slow as this is very much a casual project that can be worked on bit by bit. When the time comes that it is playable I will probably just chuck it straight into a open-beta.

Introducing the ranged weapon mechanic! With the changes we have done, we can create "melee" weapons with ranged properties and special spell effects! Thus I'd like to show off a test creation I made by playing around with the above.

The Direbrew's Flagon.


Direbrew's Flagon will be an item you can obtain during the match. This weapon has a 15 yard range, and upon attack will throw a flagon of beer at the target, damaging them and making them drunk.


The more hits you get in on the target the more drunk the target becomes. If you get hit enough times, you will become completely smashed. While smashed, there's a small chance you will actually get sick, stunning you for a short amount of time while your character throws up.
