New to servers. Need some questions answered.

I've recently tried out setting up my own server, and it worked fine. Problem is, no matter what server I try, things aren't working. Mainly the instances aren't scripted, and I'm talking about the first instance like Dead Mines and Scarlet Monastery.

So how does one get these servers scripted for their server? Hasn't someone done this already? If so, where is it? What server has it? How can I get it?

Another question is about the repacks. I set mine up with Panex, but I really don't understand what these repacks are or what the best one is, or even if it's necessary or the best way to go. Can someone explain?

If you found a repack thats working for you. Just keep it. No reason to look more into it Unless you want more features or another kinda server.

You should add Moon++ to ur server then everything will be scripted

And you should compile ascent (that is needed for moon++)

So what should I expect when it comes to a private server?

For instance, in Dead mines, the door doesn't blast open and the Tauren doesn't say,"Check out that noise." In Scarlet Monastery, the lady doesn't come out when you kill Mograine and resurrect him. I've tried these on multiple private servers, and even on my own. In Ramparts, the first boss doesn't pace back and forth. The last boss, the dragon isn't flying and shooting fireballs at you, then lands when the rider is about to die.

Things like this is what made World of Warcraft fun for me. I'd continue playing on the actual realms, but my friends quit playing and I don't have fun playing with strangers. A private realm could be modified for me to play alone, but if the instances aren't scripted, then it's not very fun.

So should I not expect to ever find scripted instances? I can't program myself, so I can't script things. I'm mostly looking to find some stuff already completed and then set something up for myself, or just play on a completed server. Setting it up for myself would be best 'cause then I could modify the drops how I want, not deal with PvP, etc.

Like I said, I'm totally new to all of this, and I just need some help.

Lua is easy to learn you will write your own simple script in less than 2h

But yeah these are private servers and only the raids are mainly scripted but they are scripted good as well.

You could also try not to push your friends a little to start playing wow again but not too hard :P

Private servers will NEVER be perfect. It took Blizzard ALOT of people to create WoW and fix the bugs.

Dude. Download my mega lua pack and put it in your scripts folder.. Download ABD as repack.. www.ascentblizzlike.com

You will have 90% of the world scripted then.

ascentblizzlike.com is blank. I can't see anything to download. Also, do you have direct links for your scripts? I got two different files, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm downloading.

EDIT: I found ABD and started doing what the readme says,

I got to:

Extracting DBCs
---------------
You need the .net framework 3.0 for this step to work!

Go to the Utilities\DBC Extractor folder, copy all the files inside to

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enGB (for a UK WoW install)

or

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS (for a US WoW install)

and run either enUS.bat (US) or enGB.bat (UK)

After it has run, there will be a folder called "MPQOUT" and inside that will be a folder called "DBC", copy that folder to the Server folder!

But it didn't create any DBC folder. I have .net framework 3.5 and put the files in the correct folder.
