I've noticed that before and now also, people have opened threads to ask questions which are common knowledge problems, and create new threads, which after answered just sit there, cluttering the forums and preventing people from finding useful posts, repacks, guides, etc.

I am really hoping to get a little less clutter thanks to this.
Okay in an attempt to reduce questions and spam on the forums, here are alot of common ascent/antrix problems and how to fix them. if im missing anything you deem should be here, just tell me and ill add on next update, or if i dont for too long, I would be grateful if a moderator could add it.


Q: Im getting an error executing a SQL file, its says:
[Msg] Exit unsuccessful. Column does not match at '<insert name here>'

A:What this means is that your rev uses a different column than most older databases, WoW-V uses an odler version, just find out where in your SQL file it says "name1" and change it to "name" for items, or check your table for new and more accurate update.

or vice versa depending on the server age

Q:hi, i just downloaded ascent 1722 for my server and now all the mobs and npc's are gone none of the tips above works. i renember i had this problem once before. and i think i executed a file called Creatures fix.sql but when i try that now i just receive an error. what do i do? it worked good before i downloaded the new ascent.
A:Rev 1722 is pretty outdated, i suggest you try a newer revision and make sure you have following tables.

Creature_spawns
Creature_proto
Creature_Names
Creature_staticspawns
Vendors

if you dont have those then get a new database., this applies for newer revs as they become older, mixing databases/emus will also cause trouble.

Q: "Mysql service failed to start...."
A: (not by me)
1. Code:
Open up [CMD] & type "NET STOP MYSQL". Then type "NET START MYSQL".
Now try connecting. If it still doesn't work, continue below.
2. Code:
Restart your computer.
If it still doesn't work, continue below.
3. Code:
Open up [CMD] & type "SC DELETE MYSQL".
This will delete the service. You may now try to configure MySQL again. If it still doesn't work, continue below.
4. Code:
Re-install MySQL and reconfigure.
This will almost definitely fix your problem.
Also try to disbale your firewall and/or other security software while you do this, and have the appropriate ports forwarded.
Q: I create a character but it doesnt show up to logon?

A: if youc reate a character and when you trasy to log back in its usually eitehr a missing or outdated Characters table, or your toons are saving to the wrong account.

Q: Realmlist loop

A: Its caused by many things, ports not forwarded, your firewall(just disable it) or an outdated rev or incompatible revs in databases


Q:Im getting "unable to connect" whenever I try to enter realm!

A: this isnt really a big problem, its one of the following:

a- your logonserver.exe and ascent/antrix.exe are form different server starts and arent working together, restart

b- your server is offline >.<

c- your firewall or other program is blocking your server or mysql access tot he internet

d- you didnt configure your configuration foles.


Q: Im getting

A: look at this:

The red numbers should be either your ip or ham ip, depending on how you made server public.

Q: I dont see any NPCs.

A: first restart wow, sometimes its display error.
second change plrupdatedist. in ascent.conf to around 800

third make sure you have following tables in DB
Creature_names
Creature_proto
Creature_loot
Creature_spawns
Creature_Staticspawns


Q: UNABLE TO VALIDATE GAME VERSION

A: Go into logonserver.conf or antrix/ascent.conf, change "Maxbuild" to 8300.

Q: I can connect to mys server, but others cant, ive followed the making public guides fine!

A: Its ussually your firewall is blocking ports required, or ports need to be opened on your router, look around, theres plenty of guides, try repack posts.

If not that, it may be you made a minor mistake in your configs, double check.


Q: Someone spawned a GO and now anyone ina rea has to remake toon!!!

A: Using navicat, find out who spawned it. now go into the characetr table and write down coords. Now go to Gameobject_spawns and organize by x,y, or z and scroll down until, u ind value where player was, now look at other coords until they match, now delete the gamobjects within four coordinate points away. now save and reload gameobject spawns ingame

Q:you need to make an item which is hooked onto spell, the spell would have to be hand batched up for non existing speed and would require alot of complex editing in the database, you may be able to carefully edit an existing mount, but it is difficult as hell..

A: very compex database editing, you ahve to create a new spell with details which would allow it to access a special mounting spell, edit the displayid to change to a new mount, majke sur emoutn has a compatible ridingg location, and link it to an item.

Q: How do I make an account GM?

A: to set account to gm level

Step one : Open your main DB is Navicat/Mysql
Step two : Find the table called "Account" and open it.
Step three : Change account to 1 if its your first account and if its your 2nd account change it to 2 so on....
Step four : Change login into your desired account name.
Step five : Change Password to your desired password.
Step six : Change GM into az ( 3 also works)
Step Seven : DO NOT DO ANYTHING to Banned, Lastlogin, lastip
Step eight : Change flag into 8 if you want it BC and 0 for normal wow



Q: I DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE A PRIVAT3 s3rVer. PLz tells me how and how 2 make publik Alzo!@!@!

A: Take the dedication and time to learn a vermins donkey about what youre doing so you can learn to read repack guides, or gtfo. Emulator servers arent that hard, even if the guides seem long, just follow them one step at a time.

Tinkerfoe, I request help!
I'm runnin Ascent with Chrispee's DB and repack, and have followed Blindgunner's guide to the very letter, but after configuring my ascent.cfg and logonserver.cfg and realms.cfg, I changed my stuff in realmlist to log on, and I get 'Unable to Connect' I have checked your posts, and don't know how to check their stats to see for matching. could you help?

I could like send you my cfg files and you could check them or something, I really want this priv server, but can never get it on the first try

BTW plz tell me if these are the default ports for each thing

MySQL:3306
Server IP:8129
Logonserver:8093 - i think
Localhost- 127.0.0.1
All hosts-0.0.0.0

Double check that your have the ports open the post your confs in a code box.

Probably what youre doing is either the listen host isnt set right, OR you need to add your DNs host to your Hosts.file in windows systems.

Or make sure you change your realmlist to he right address.

if you want just send me first 30 lines or so of ascent.conf, full logon.conf, and realms.conf if none of the above works, or try a julianX Repack guide.


Also ascent.exe and logon.exe have to BOTh be on the whole time.

I tweaked a couple of things in an attempt to fix it, but at first they were all exactly like Blingunner said, and it didn't work, I swear!

BTW, DNS to my Windows host.file? DNS.....ummmm.....I set my realmlist to my Hamachi IP, which was listed above, ascent and logon were both on simultaneously, and all checked out, and there it is.

A few mistakes. do what i showed in red in these corrections, fix and try again
DYNDNS is nonhamachi public, ignore.

your realmlist should be 127.0.0.1 if its on ur pc

ok, i modded the config files, i started the logonserver and ascentlogon was unknown, in my Navicat, I labelled the DB ascent literally...

and yes, root and root are my real mysql i have one hell of a router and you cant get onto my stuff w/o passes!!!!

No. i know how to fix. go into logonserver.conf or ascent.conf.

set the "maxbuild" to 8200
now it will work
