I can't ban people

Why does every single ban command in ascent not work? Here's what I've tried and what happens.

1. Tried .ban hacker - this just gave me a description of the command saying "bans character with the name of x"
2. Tried .banchar hacker - exact same thing
3. Tried .addipban 24.27.72.16 - This says a much longer description, still doesn't activate the command, just tells me that if I don't put in a duration it's a permanent ban.
4. Tried .addipban 24.27.72.16 1y> - The same command but with a duration, this one says its actually banning the person, and even says it's disconnecting their account, however the person isn't disconnected, and even after kicking them from the server they just reconnected.

How do I get ban commands do work???

well I finally banned the guy by going into the database and putting a "1" in the banned row of his account, I don't know if this is an IP ban or not, which probably doesn't matter if he's running a proxy. I'd still like to know why ascent ban commands don't work.

I'll try that if he comes back, seems like it will just work the same way the .addipban command worked, we'll see though.

well if you do it through the db you have to restart mysql for the changes to take place, i know it sounds foolish but it should work, the other problem with that is you would have to restart every time someone was banned.

Yes I rewrote the command to make it permaban. If you want the source just tell me.
