How does the minimap have information about objects not yet in the OM? menu

    How does the minimap have information about objects not yet in the OM?

    This mostly relates to rares and treasures, I often notice the minimap having this data already to provide the arrows / minimap icons for treasures/rares, but these treasures/rares won't be in the OM until you get closer. How does the minimap get it's data, and where is said data?
