Reading memory

Been doing some research on World of warcraft botting
I'm coming from a different mmo I made bots/other programs have been interested in seeing if i could make something for world of warcraft

I was reading about how they have detection for injections in memory but what about just reading info from it?

I searched the forums saw info close to what i am looking for but it had been a few years wasn't sure what had changed.
The sticky had a lot of good info as well.
