Judging by your reactions, would it be safe to assume I'm wrong here? I was under this assumption based on posts found on these forums, but now I'm having a hard time finding them again. In any case, this is one situation where I would welcome being wrong. Having a more robust in-game GUI would be quite handy.

I've never heard of them taking screenshots(unlike cod) so I'm not saying it is or isn't true but I can say that I've been using ImGui and ui's in general since the release of the latter part of wod and I personally haven't been banned yet.
