    IP Bans?

I have 2 wotlk accounts, one "clean" (never used anything) and the second is "dirty" (MrFishIt/Gatherbuddy), recently I got Ashes of Alar so I dont want to risk my clean account anymore due to a IP Ban or for opening trade to the bot character

So can I get IP banned? (I run both clients on same PC/net = same IP) or for trading with the bot char?

Thanks in advance any comment appreciated, flame if you wish Lol

i would presume so, but im no expert

i dont see whats stopping them from seeing you have the same ip and the amounts that you have traded, but i could be wrong. Dont see any reaason why they couldnt ban you though as the evidence would be there...

Would an expert of Blizzard information recording answer this question if they monitor IP addresses between accounts, as I wish to know the answer to this as well. I am about to do some quick BG achievements using the multi hack, and I don't want my clean account to be banned along my waste account. I have had my clean account since 2004 with my main character a mage having so many rare items, mounts, and titles on her, I really don't want to risk loosing her.

I did some intense glitching and hacking on a trial account for about a week straight before a GM contacted me. With a total of at least 10 levels gained through pure hacks my trial only received a 48 hours suspension. My main account is completely fine. However, they do track IP addresses. Remember Blizzard does not have to give you a reason for banning you but it highly unlikely that they will ever ban someone using IP.

You should be fine but I recommend that you do not log into both accounts at the same time.

If you are still too worried about being banned then test the hack on a private server. Honestly, it isn't even that fun.

I once had 9 accounts banned at once and the only common denominator was my IP address.

I have other evidence that IP can be used when investigating accounts....

My guess would be that they use common IP/Mac/Whatever to flag accounts but not to ban. If they get a report on account A they might also check account B to see if it's doing the same thing (botting / hacking).

I have never heard of IP banning and whatnot. I think they do that when you have >5 accounts running at once while hacking/botting. So they won't for your case, because you are running one at a time, and that they would investigate both accounts before banning them separately ... Also, If your on an IP, whats the chances that they'll search a "Clean" account and just so happens they found a match between the hacking one, and yours. If they did it another way, like logging IP addresses, and then when they investigate, they look up the IP. Well, that would be nearly impossible because you can be playing on a different computer for the moment, and that is what gets logged? Be a bit wierd. I know they could like update the IP logs and stuff, but it's just unnecessary work then just getting the IP whenever the hack / bot was in place.

This is just my theory, hope it helps!

    Hi,

I do this with trial accounts all the time. I have a clean account and several trials where I mess around with dangerous hacks that get me banned. Before I log onto my clean account I get a new IP using my router or the ip release/renew method. Of course this requires the IP to be dynamic but I find it does the job well... I'm still playing.
    Let's get some shoes.

If you hacked at a coffee shop wifi, no one can play WoW from there now? What about an internet cafe, university or hotel?. If you went to a friends house and hacked using his wifi could you get him banned? It doesn't make sense to use IP to ban accounts that use the same connection.
