As many of you know, the former versions of gearME were pretty limited, and at the time and still today I am a little new to the WoW scene, so finding a better method of getting this to work, and making it user friendly was always in the works. I just don't get a lot of free time to spare as of late
Lets get down to business, and I can attempt to fully explain how to use this tool
Supported OS's
-Windows XP
-Windows Vista
-Windows 7
Supported game client: 4.1.0 (14007)
Detection status: Not detected
Download: - here
Virustotal: here
If you receive any errors for missing any missing dll's, odds are you need the 2010 redistributable package, found here
How do I use this tool?
-Extract the gearME 4.0 folder from the zip archive. This folder can go anywhere.
-You will notice gearME.exe and a text file called items.txt, this text file contains your item swaps.
but how do I know what ID's go to what items?
-There are several way's to go about this, perhaps you have a master list from an emulator, or want to take a stroll through itemdisplayinfo.dbc. Don't worry there is a much simpler way, wowhead.
-So lets take for example player A, player A is sick and tired of his Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Ornamented Spaulders, found on wowhead here
He would much rather appear to be wearing Judgement Spaulders, found here
Enough rambling, how do I get the display ID?
-Right click on the page -> View source, search for the character string "display"
As seen below...
That id 98748 is the display id for this item.
Now lets do the same for judgement spaulders, that item id is 34258.
So, you items.txt file should look like this:
Please advise, old item first new item last and 'SWAP' is in all caps. Also note the 'endfile' that needs to be there for 2 reasons A. I am lazy B. gearME will shit itself otherwise.Code:SWAP 98748 34258 endfile
Now lets assume you have dug up some more id's for items you want to swap. You would like to replace:
(examples)
Ballin Gladiators Shiny Ass Visor - display id: 696969
with
Ranger Rick's Radiating Helmet - display id: 123456
your items.txt would now look like so:
and so on and so forth with as many items as you please.Code:SWAP 98748 34258 SWAP 696969 123456 endfile
Now wut do I do?
-Open WoW and remain at the login screen.
-Run gearME.exe after you have your items.txt saved the way you want it
once you get the display message "job finished" you are good to go, exit gearME and login.
YOU WILL NOT SEE VISIBLE CHANGES AT THE CHARACTER SELECTION SCREEN, PLEASE DON"T FREAK THE F OUT AND POST "AMFG IT NO WORK" BEFORE YOU GIVE YOURSELF THE NEXT 10 SECONDS TO ENTER THE WORLD!!
You will now note that your items models have changed, enjoy
Credits to a tester with windows XP on a euro client for submitting photos of his blood elf paladin prior to this post. Including some pictures of tier 12 I took on the test realm, I will release a 4.2 version when it goes live.
