[Program/Guide] Running wow/glider in a VM.. one that work ;)

Hello evryone, I think some pepole could find this useful

    1. Download VMWare Workstation 6.5 or Buy it.
    2. Create a new VM with WinXp
    3. Download Glider/.Net framework
    4. Copy wow to the newley made VM
    5. Install/Configure glider & start wow.
    6. Have fun, now you can do other stuff on your computer if u only have normal glider or other kind of bots that do pixel searching, not that glider does but still.

IMO, Theres only 1 use for this, 64bit Vista OS gliders....Considering you can only run Glider on 32bit OS's.....Some people have beefy PC's with 64bit OS's, And use this program to run glider on it.

what it does is it enabels people who didnt buy the full glider to run in a "minimized" mode so to say - aka you can do other stuff while botting ?

Cus it seems lame to use this if ur running background mode anyhow :P?

or am i completly wrong ?

As ImplodingJaw said, the only real use for this is for 64bit OS users like myself, the shadow drive is not digitally signed with micro$oft and thus cannot load correctly on a 64bit OS.

Did not know that VMWare worked with 3D Apps! Thanks!

That's the excuse given by the devs, but it's not the right reason.
The 64 bit driver can be 'self signed' without getting Microsoft involved. Unfortunately for the paying members, Glider will never be 64 bit compatable.

What really sucks is that when the next Windows OS comes out (2009 is predicted), there will BE no 32/64 bit versions. It's all going to be one big version, just like boards and CPU's are all doing away with the '64 bit compatable' distinction.

What does this mean for glider, and it's users? Well, those of us (myself included) that have large amounts of system resources are effectively screwed, and my bet is digital signing is going to be required on ALL drivers from that point forward.

One can hope to hell the devs get off their asses and put together a 64 bit version, but it's not likely, considering they can't even take criticism (from paying customers) for lacking it.

Great idea man, I really needed this to do other things on my comp while gliding (normal glider subscription)

However, I'm having graphic issues in WMWare : I have a black screen, but can see a bit of the frozen dragon wing movement, and stuff like this. I've already googled this without success, people get all kinds of problems like WoW crashing but I could not find anything similar.

Maybe anyone has some insight on how to fix this ? Tho I don't think it can be helpful, I would be able to post a screenshot of it later.

    Thanks in advance.

That's just one of the things about vmware you have to get used to, which is why it's not recommended you actually PLAY the character while using the vm!

vmware is quite ugly to deal with in instances like this
